Back in the 1980s while tsking continuing auto tech classes at the J.C. that when fuel injection was becoming popular the gas companies started using additives to keep the injectors and behind the intake valves/port area clean. The BMW techs in the class told about media blasting the intake valve/port to remove the deposits.

Thanks for the reply. Just tried that (2 bottles) and it had a temporary , partial improvement. The Bosch fuel pump was replaced 2 years ago. The original lasted 26 years 165k miles.

I am not positive, but ZERO problem until 1 month ago and then read about it online. ALSO..After I put in 2 bottles of Techron, it did make a difference for a couple weeks. And the way the fluctuation came back was typical.

Chevron Techron is easy to come by: Walmart, Amazon, various auto supply places, Chevron stations, hardware stores, and I've even seen it in supermarkets.

I just didn’t know that was “sulfur contamination”. How anyone knows I’m not sure. I had a fuel gauge do that once upon time but I thought the sender was just worn out.
