For some variety, I recently decided to change things up from my longtime workday brew of Eight O Clock 100% Colombian Peaks.I'm looking forward to tying this one. Read some good comments about it. It'll be a few days before the bag is opened, though.

I don’t brew specialty beans every day - just on my off days. But I still like to have good coffee to drink on my way to work, and I carry a travel mug for my afternoon break as well. The minimum for me is decently fresh beans, ground the night before, at the longest.
I remembered that last Christmas, I’d received a big bag of Peet’s Organic Alameda Morning Blend medium roast, and enjoyed it quite a bit, so decided to get the Peet’s subscription. They ship the same day that they roast the coffee, or the next day, and it’s a decent price (you get a discount for subscribing).
I chose 3 lbs of the Peet’s Organic Alameda blend, delivered every 6 weeks.
Didn’t take long to arrive, and it was very fresh, having been roasted just a few days prior.
It was good, but not as good as I remember. They call it a medium, but it’s truly a medium-dark, with an emphasis on dark. I believe they have started roasting this darker than what I remember from Christmas 2023 when I first had it.
So after that Alameda ran out, I decided to switch to one of their new light roast blends. The Costa Rica Aurora “light roast” (blend of washed Costa Rican and Kenyan) looked interesting, and at the discounted price for subscribing, works out to about $18/lb to my doorstep.
It’s been shipped, and should arrive in a few days.
Looking forward to trying it! Knowing how Peet’s roasts, I expect it’ll be closer to a medium.
