Coffee - Your Current Brew

*LOL* 2 years!?!? Ive been cutting down a little but ... I'll never be able to do that.

My wife and I go through your 900G (32 US OZ) every two weeks! We order 4 lbs at a time.

We are loving (for now) Amazon Dark Roast in our new Moccamaster recommended by @Cropduster172
Wow. he was so right, my wife and still talk about it. Love using the Moccamaster. I feel like we are crafting our own coffee everyday. Right down to the way I set the grinds up in the cone. You can even watch the hot water from the drip bar drip onto the grinds. We brew jsut over the 8 cup mark on the coffee maker per day with 5 scoops of Amazon whole dark beans ground fine.

It presents such a simple "picture" of brewing coffee and the brew just comes out right. I think it has to do with the brewing temperature of the water into the unheated glass lined vacuum carafe. Stong and yet smooth.
Hands down, since we enjoy our morning coffee so much, one of the best appliances we every bought :)

I clean my carafe and brew basket, lids etc...about 1-2 times/ month.
I put about a cup of hot tap water in the carafe and drop a dishwasher detergent pod in it and then slowly fill the carafe with hot water until it just overflows. Leave it in the sink for 1-2 hours and then pour the solution into the drip basket and drop the carafe lid funnel thing in to soak. Let those soak for an hour or so and I scrub inside the carafe with this thing:

I use a dish brushe on the brew basket and then thoroughly rinse everything with hot water.
Inside looks like new. Coffee will taste even better afterwards.

I use citric acid to descale. $10 for 2 lbs. Will last quite a long time.

I'll pass this to my wife.
Arriving today from Amazon. She ordered it. I think it is over the top for our area. We have SUPER SOFT water here. Even for my aquarium it's void of minerals. Our public water supply is all or most all reverse osmosis.
I'll check the citric acid thing out. Most likely makes more sense. I just noticed how much she is paying for this. Im afraid it might be too strong.

Thanks for the tip on the sponge, I have it in my "cart" already.

Here's the SDS sheet for Dezcal listing the ingredients.
Citric acid is the primary ingredient as it is for almost every other descaler available. I also use citric acid to descale my Gaggia Brera superautomatic. Superautomatics tend to require frequent descaling and they indicate when it's time. Citric acid solution works great for that too.

It will take me that long because I only make 2-3 cups a week from that package. The other days I make my iced coffee at my girlfriends house and pretty soon it will be McDonald’s $1 iced coffee season and that goes from May to September so I will be having those more often than not and will hardly ever make coffee at home.

I’m surprised to see sulfuric acid on that list. LOL.

Latest haul! An all-naturally-processed haul from S&W Coffee Roasting out of Coatesville, IN. These folks put out some great specialty-grade beans at a very fair price. Being coffee enthusiasts themselves, they're also very active and responsive on social media (u/Pourover on Reddit, for example). These were all roasted on March 18 and I received them a few days later. I've been letting them rest in the cabinet since they're all light roasts. The roaster recommends 2 weeks of rest for all of these except the PNG, which is 3 weeks. I know I've seen some of y'all post that you got some beans from S&W. I broke into the Ethiopia Worka Sakaro Anaerobic Wine Processed beans this morning, and the Sumatra this afternoon. Made an Aeropress with both. Both were good but the Ethiopian was especially outstanding. 13 days off roast, so a bit early. But I did a 10-min immersion, so it negated the effect of the CO2.

Can't wait to try the rest of these!

Japan has some seriously incredible coffee culture, and specialty coffee shops. The Japanese are apparently ravenous consumers of excellent coffee. People on the coffee socials are posting some just crazy photos and stories about it. Hit one up while you're there, if able!

Burning thru a bag of Eight O' Clock Columbian peaks - been grinding at full course. The pot this morning was especially good.. it's amazing how the Technivorm Moccamaster can improve ordinary coffee. A treat is arriving by Saturday I hope.

The Pappy coffee above that I have been drinking isn't really my taste. Can't pin point what I don't like but my wife said the same thing. It's just ehh... Not much left in the bag. Going back to Peet's Breakfast blend once it is done.

What is the roast level on the Peet's Breakfast Blend? TIA
