Only on day 2 but we already know this will be our new go to coffee.
Backstory,
A while back Costco stopped carrying our favorite bean, also our favorite "Gold Coffee" that we purchased from Florida was getting way too pricey for us and why we tried the Costco stuff.
In-between we found a satisfactory mix of Kirkland deep roast beans and another brand "moon" something. It was passable.

However, still searching for reasonable good coffee (your taste might differ) we were pleasantly surprised at none other than an Amazon Dark Coffee bean. Now on our second day, I think this is a keeper for sure. Great price, STRONG, dark coffee and yet is smooth (for a dark roast)
Sometimes we will mix the dark beans with a medium bean. The dark beans are wet so we would mix in 1/3rd medium as the dark beans clog our grinder unless we clean it every week. But not ready to do that with the Amazon beans yet.

If you like a strong bean this might be a worthy try.

Decided to cheat and open the bag even though I've got pound or so of the Costco Colombian Supremo left.
Has a use by date of 5/28...freshest I've ever had from Amazon. Beans looked shiny but not oily. No noticeable chaff.
Brewed a full pot in the Moccamaster. It's very good. Not quite as good as the Costco Colombian or House Blend...but very good. If I didn't have the availability of the Costco, Whole Foods and others with great selection and availability, I'd put this one on Subscribe &Save.

Thanks for the feedback. Ever since Gold Coffee Konaloa Blend (which we loved) started raising prices (now double at $15.00lb vs $7.50 lb) we have been on a search for something comparable.

We have tried 2 Costco coffees Kirkland Signature and Kirkland French Roast. Both good but for some reason we just kept looking. I cant remember exactly why, like you, we like trying different coffee until we hit that one perfect one for us. The Gold Coffee was our brand for a long time but wow. I cant figure out why they raised their price like they did.

Never tried Costco Colombian or House Blend (that I remember) It is possible we tried the House Blend, I just dont have it in our online account but could have picked it up at the warehouse. Anyway we like really strong coffee but many are too bitter. I shy away from Columbian only because of bad past cheap labeled Columbian (think Walmart) that weren't from Costco many years back.
I do think because of your thoughts that one day if I get the urge to try a new coffee I now wont hesitate to try Costco Columbian!
I do think if I remember correctly the House Blend (green printed bag?)was too light for us (and our Braun drip coffee maker)

We have nothing near us as far as Whole Foods etc. Pretty amazing the lack of stores for one of the fastest growing counties in the USA. Whole Foods is about an hour away. Never been in one that I remember.

Anyway, ready? We have, at least for now made the decision to stay with Amazon French Roast. I admit to knowing NOTHING about coffee other than we have drank coffee for many decades so no one to get advice from because my wife an I always had the strongest coffee brewing over anyone else who we knew. We find it hard to drink the standard stuff other family members brew.

We do like it strong but my wife does add creamer and sugar to hers. I drink mine with nothing but a dash of organic skim milk. (almost black) For a strong coffee we do not taste the bitterness of many of the others in the French Roast. AND YES, EVEN THOUGH THE BEANS ARE WET THEY ARE NOT OILY ENOUGH TO CLOG OUR CUISINART GRINDER. As you can tell by our equipment we are not high end coffee drinkers but above average I think. Let's say on a budget to what is important to us. One of my family members brews their coffee strong when we visit (for us) and my wife and I drink it but hate it, standard Maxwell type stuff really strong to us is unbearable but we drink it.

Ok, another long post, thanks for your feedback! I am sure one day first on our list to try will be Costco Columbian when feel like "straying" However I just ordered to be delivered this week. FOUR pounds of Amazon French Roast!
The use by date however is only Nov 2025

Brewed a full pot in the Moccamaster.
Ok, you got my wife and I curious.
I assume you are happy with the Moccamaster?
Could you comment on the model?

I see currently they offer the KBT Juniper but also offer a questionnaire on type to fit ones needs. You have peeked our curiosity.

Dont make fun of us now, this is our trusty Braun Brewer and Cuisinart Grinder. We brew approx 8 cups every morning approximately 8.5 cups of water into the machine. Which is 6 heaping spoons of beans into the grinder.

CBGT is the model. I don't think they make it anymore. I found someone selling 2, brand new on Facebook Marketplace 2 years ago. I bought both. One for each house. But they all function identically. The main differences are glass or thermal carafe and some differences with the drip basket for half pots or something.
This is the one we have. There's a reason why people love them and they get the high ratings they do.

Thanks, mentioned on the website is the stainless thermal carafe of the KBT model is glass lined. When I read that it caught my attention, very cool.
Your photo looks great, love the styling.

What's in your cabinet?

You guys seem to have pretty good taste... One of you guys, I forget who, posted that the Eight 'o Clock Colombian was pretty good, so I picked some up today. It's pretty good - not my favorite, but definitely drinkable. Kinda has what seems to me to be a "vintage" or "old-fashioned" flavor - like, what I expect the average cup 'o joe tasted like from a diner or something, back in the '60s. Kinda a sharp, "bright" edge to it.

Anyway, here's my stash. Had to put my favorite mug in there, ha ha

Vail mountain coffee, and a local place that has amazing sourced Guatemalan coffee. It's crazy smooth and not bitter.

They do go on sale occasionally on Amazon.
I'll put one in my saved cart. We are shocked on how long this Braun has lasted. I think for fun we maybe ready to try a new brand if and when it dies. It's been working for gosh, I have no idea 5, 6 or more years. 8 cups a day almost every day of the year except vacations. I know sooner or later it will die. I guess.

We used to blow through a Cuisinart every 18 months to 2 years max.

I get it. We've tried many different ones. I didn't pay as much mind to coffee when I was working.
But I'm not scrimping on any of it retired.
Have had Braun,Krups, Cuisinart... Cuisinart Grind n Brew, Capresso Grind n Brew, really good cheap knockoff of a Euro Melitta which is the backup, it's a Motive Essential. I think it was $45.

None match the coffee from the Moccamaster... although the rebadged Melitta comes close.
The Grind n Brew are ok but are maintenance intensive.
