Coffee makers...what works best for you?

What kind and model is it? I've been through a few before I settled on the 2 that are very good without issues.
A Baratza Encore and an Oxo.
It's a Krups Precision Burr Coffee Grinder. Identified as "mess-free operation" and "convenient mess-free coffee transfer" on Amazon. LOL!

Yeah. I have one of those too. It's a spare. It gets the job done. It's a flat burr vs a conical burr...not sure that makes a huge difference. So far, the best I've used for drip in the Moccamaster is the Baratza Encore...the Oxo is solid but a little messier, although much faster and quieter.

I wouldn't say I was a hardcore coffee snob, I'll drain a few cups at my favorite cafe or taqueria without complaint, but I do find that using the right machine/technique with the proper bean certainly makes for a better cup at home. For me a high-quality drip machine can do the job, but the real game changer is how the coffee is kept hot. Most of the cheap "Mr Coffee" style machines have a glass carafe sitting on a hotplate to keep the coffee at a drinkable temperature, and that's where they get a deservedly bad rap. Before long that hotplate will give the coffee a bitter, stewed taste that we've all experienced at some point, but fortunately there's a better option...the thermal carafe.

My first one was made by Melitta, which worked on the same principle as the standard drip machine but had a stainless steel insulated carafe that kept the coffee plenty warm for several hours, more than long enough for my wife and I to drink "12 cups" (seriously?). After a few years it started leaking so we found a Keurig machine that also had a metal carafe and could do K-Cups as well as a full pot. This one seems to do a better job at extraction resulting in a very smooth brew and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for quite a few hours. We don't use the K-Cups all that often but my wife like to make a flavored coffee every now and then, which is not my thing.

Coffee-wise I wasn't always that picky until my aforementioned bride, who's a closet Pacific Islander, turned me on to the Hawaiian varieties. Fortunately my local grocery store sells a whole-bean Kona blend in bulk that does the job nicely, unfortunately we both have to cut down on our caffeine intake so we do a 50/50 blend with a quality decaf. Not the same as the high octane stuff but better than nothing.

In short, what do you fine folks like to use the prepare your morning brew...French press, an old-school percolator, a high end espresso maker or just your basic drip machine? Whatever it is it certainly beats waiting in line for an overpriced, mediocre cup of warm brown water.
regular mr coffee drip for me

I use an inexpensive small Mr. Coffee. I brew up one large mug in the morning and immediately drink it. It never has time to go bad on the burner.

Usually just cold brew, super easy to make. Usually the Kirkland Columbian Supremo beans.

When it’s hot coffee at work I just have a cheap Mr. Coffee 12 cup maker or a Keurig. Don’t really care.

One weird thing about Keurig is even though fundamentally their system is the same across their many models and years the operator interface is just different enough to be irritating. The one in our room requires ultimate patience and the water tank barely holds 300ml of H2O

The style where you pour in the exact amount of water every time irritates me to no end. If I didn't have a water line for one in my office, I may commit workplace violence on it.

My wife and I have 2 cups each every morning using a Hamilton Beach drip coffee maker. Our daughter bought us a Krups coffee maker 2 Christmas's ago which stopped working after less than a month. She told us she got it on Amazon so we called and were told to send it back for a replacement. The replacement did the same thing....stopped working in less than a month (coffee was cold). Amazon told us to keep it and refunded the money. So much for Krups coffee makers.

My wife bought a Ninja drip coffee maker recently and it makes excellent, hot coffee using less coffee than the Hamilton Beach. It seems to take a little longer to brew than the HB which I assume accounts for using less coffee (gets more out of each spoonful). We like Folger's, Maxwell House, or Chock Full of Nuts regular or Columbian variety. Neither of us like the burnt taste of 'French Roast'.

We used a Farberware percolator coffee maker for years but they became harder to find and then production shifted to China....they did make excellent coffee IMO.

Mochamaster, fresh ground beans from a roaster 1 mile from my house fresh filtered water... perfection for me
A Moccamaster, along with a decent grinder and some reasonably fresh beans elevates the seemingly mundane, routine experience of drinking coffee to a level that has to be experienced. So many are missing out because the the cost deters them.

Re-usable K-cup in the Keurig in the morning on my way out the door. Drip coffee maker in the office. French press when I just want something different at home, a few times a year at most.
