Percolator coffee done correctly taste delicious. I grew up drinking it that way, it's kinda like moka pot, you just have to make sure you stop the heating at the right time.I still use an old electric percolator my parents gave me years ago when I was in college, made by West Bend. I know it's different, but it really does make the best coffee compared to drips or keurigs.
I don't buy whole beans, but occasionally get some as a present. I use my magic bullet, works good enough.
Its definitely not the beans. The Costco Colombian Supremo is consistently excellent.First pots out of the ratio are a little sour. Under extracted I think. I'm going to adjust the grind and see if that helps. Costco Columbian whole bean.
I don't typically like anything with a modern design....but I had an emotional response when I saw this. It's absolutely stunning. This is Mine!! View attachment 138655
We've had a super automatic Jura at work for over 10 years now, it's made well over 20,000 shots with no repairs, just regular cleanings and descaling whenever it signals. Blows away any Italian made machine with this amount of complexity, in reliability and durability.I don't typically like anything with a modern design....but I had an emotional response when I saw this. It's absolutely stunning.
So my coffee has been tasting like crap the past couple weeks. Tried playing with the grinds and the water temps, and using filtered water too. However, this morning while looking for answers on the internet, I came across what I believe is the problem.I just upped my weekend coffee game by going to the Hario Skerton Pro.
I never ground beans before, and it definitely made a difference. I bought
the 8 O'Clock original beans as my first experiment. I am impressed, and I'm
looking forward to experimenting with other beans in the future.
Back when I was regularly roasting my own beans, a 50/50 blend of a Mandheling Sumatra and a Central American or Colombian was a favorite.Tried Winco Swiss Water decaf Sumatra straight this AM. It's $7.XX per POUND.
Not bad, but amazingly insipid. Will blend, as usual.
