I would guess majority of customers could be easily swayed... I can imagine a typical buyer at an auto part store looking at M1 and Syntec/Edge... seeing both sell for around the same price but one claims to be 8x better. Guess which one will more likely get purchased?
Whenever I see a bottle with all kinds of unsubstantiated claims written all over it I avoid it like the plague. The first thing that comes to mind when I see something like that is "snake oil".
Castrol and Ashland don't produce snake oil. They are large, legitimate lubricant producers.
I'll say it again - if these claims were untrue, ExxonMobil would have both Ashland and BP in federal court so fast your head would be spinning. You don't think this will cut into Exxon's market share? They would have or will stop it if they can/could in a major lawsuit.
The best available evidence shows us Exxon [censored] up bigtime. Maybe they just had a quick quality control gap. But one can not conclude that based on Ashland's claim that the inferior Mobil 1 was found over 4 years of testing.
Unless Exxon comes out with complete denial and sues both companies, the only thing I can believe is they [censored] up.
And Exxon hacks sent here with an agenda to dispute claims with extreme prejudice aren't going to sway my opinion.
