Its not where I live, but I understand it is already out in some locations.

What does Amsoil have to do with this? I detest this kind of garbage.

The oil is actually stacked on the display itself. Call Castrol if you don't believe me, the marketing division isn't going to deny something they want people to know about.

Castol just decided to roll out this oil by suggesting it's supperior to Mobil 1 i.e. it has an edge over it.

Because I can see the future, I'm predicting this thread will get locked after 58 pages.

If this was in the back of an Advance Auto Parts store... They're probably just about to bring it out in the next few days. It MIGHT be on sale just after Jan 31, as this is when Advance Auto's current sale ends! If it is, and at a great price, (introductory price?), I, as well as MANY others, won't hesitate to jump on it!

US Introduction? Feb release? 5 ft stand with Mobil bashing in the back room of an Advance Auto Parts Store? New sales period starts Feb. 1 at Advance Auto Parts?

I'll race you all! ...(if the price is right) haha

Anyone with insider Advance Auto Parts info?

I'd say that if the test was run by a reputable lab, then there are real differences between the oils. As I read it, the Sequence IVA test forces 100 hours of cold temperature operation on the engine, simulating years of intermittent stop and go driving, where the engine never warms up. They UOA the oil for Fe and Cu wear and physically measure and average the cam lobe wear.

ASTM and SAE think that this test correlates to wear in real engines. This test will also be included in the GF-5 spec.

Abstract:
The ASTM Sequence VE test evaluates lubricant performance for controlling sludge deposits and minimizing overhead camshaft lobe wear. ILSAC asked JAMA to develop a new valve train wear replacement test since the Sequence VE test engine hardware will become obsolete in the year 2000. JAMA submitted the JASO specification M 328-951) KA24E valve train wear test. This first report presents the results of technical studies conducted when JASO M 328-95 was reviewed and the ASTM standardized version of the KA24E test (the Sequence IVA) was proposed.

The cam wear mechanism was studied with the goal of improving reproducibility and repeatability. Engine torque was specified to stabilize the NOx concentration in blow-by, which improved test precision. Additionally, the specifications for induction air humidity and temperature, oil temperature control, and test fuel composition were modified when the ASTM version of the KA24E test was proposed. The KA24E correlation to Sequence VE wear was studied, and good agreement was documented. The correlation between field performance and KA24E engine test results was also investigated. Field tests conducted with two different wear level oils ranked wear similarly to the KA24E engine tests. Based on these studies, the KA24E test was proposed as the ASTM Sequence IVA test method.

RI, it's the requirement NOW for GF-4. You must be below 90 microns. GF-3 allowed 120 microns. Ashland found over a two year period Mobil 1 was around 180 micron average. Of course this is based on Ashland's data.

Does it say anywhere on the labeling about being 8 times better then Mobil 1?
