As for the use of slotted/louvered center tube openings notation, much ado about nothing. Clacor/Baldwin/Hastings and Champ Labs/(rank/fram) have long used this design. Just a preference they have as opposed to circular holes used by others (Fram/Puro et al.). They are reputable long time companies and I trust they have infinitely more knowledge regarding filter flow and construction than some forum pseudo engineers commenting on a message board. And contrary to a previous implication, afaik Puro has never used a louvered center tube.

Thanks for the pics.

Thinking about the filter more with the vent style holes, I think it was a super tech for my lawn mower I took back to walmart 6 years or so ago. The holes were mostly closed, not pressed out enough. Otherwise I used only Motorcraft. It doesn't take a PhD in mechanical engineering to see pressed out scoops are a different process than punched holes, and I commented on the differences as I see them. I am sorry if the opinion steps on brand loyalty and the forum isn't about oil filters and what people think about the differences.

Good times; point taken. If I can show some members here something new and they can learn from it or see differences, etc; I have done my job. I am still learning. I appreciate your opinions and thoughts sir ;-)

No brand loyalty to it for me, as I rarely use filters with a louvered centertube couldn't care less. Some comments made about louvered holes vs circular, simply stated just a manufacturer preference. Most knowledgeable here would consider Clarcor/Baldwin/Hastings and Champ generally to make reputable products, and there's no proof that the slotted design flows less or is inferior to the hole design. And so imo, it's much ado about nothing.

In the brief Super Tech incident, Champ said the filters still flowed enough to meet spec. Guess they could have lied. But, iirc then proceeded to quickly correct the issue. And also an incorrect id of Purolator making a louvered centertube was corrected. That's about it.

Well, if it had louvered slits or no and it flows "adequate psi" and tests ok then I'd say it's good to go. I can't say I hVe ever saw a champ labs 2867 or 2876 fail on a Kia, Hyundai or even a 2840 on a Toyota fail

I agree with Stewie it looks like the 6607 in size. Very very small. Kind of concerns me a bit its on a 3.5 motor. Just seems too small. But otherwise it does look solid. Good work again partner

It looks like the 6607 size because it is the 6607 size. However unlike this 6607 size filter posted recently and used on a Hyundai Elantra which was/is two sizes down from spec, this is the Maxima spec size. So, it's on Nissan and this is the size they spec and not downsized.

An alternative size that would very likely fit is the 7317/14610, ~1" longer, but that would not be spec. Certainly a good option, but would not be covered by a filter warranty. Nissan is noted for specing the 6607/14612 shorty filter even where the 7317 will fit.
