CAR and DRIVER : 2024 FORD Maverick hybrid long term ...

In Florida an old gf drove my C-max
To Mack truck mpgs while I got 52 mpg on the same route. On the gas 100% of the time and the brakes 50% of the time...geez. 😆 🤣 😂
My dad drove binary like that. In the 1980s we did a road trip together in his '75 Dodge Royal Monaco (400).

Travelling downhill c. 275 miles from 1500' elevation to sea level, he got 16 MPG (Imperial). I drove back, uphill, and got 23.

My wife lol. Always pick up some MPGs when I’m driving the Toyota.
My wife dutifully writes “daddy driving” in the fuel log when I drive her car on family trips. I can’t get away with’nuthin.

OTOH I usually drive as “we get there sooner.” Strange thing that.

If I asked my wife to keep up with a fuel log and call me daddy while doing it I think she’d just rather leave me instead lol
Ha!

I think she wrote down "daddy" as one of the kids was watching or something--we do NOT call each other mom or dad, only if the kids are around, "go ask your father" or whatever. To each other, it's more like "hey you". No pet names here.

All of our cars have a simple notebook in it, I put in oil changes and the like. Anyone who puts in gas has to put down miles and fuel. If the wife didn't want to, I guess I'd have no recourse for her car: but anyone borrowing mine has had to do so. Otherwise there is no borrowing.

My wife would remind me of the things I don't seem to be able to do and then not fill it out. I fill up her car for her just to be able to track mileage. It's a chivalrous thing to do......

I wonder how these guys drive; maybe just the fact they're working/writing for C/D tells the story. My overall average for the entire 12K miles is running at 43.9 mpg, about 10:1 freeway to city, although maybe 5 :1 timewise. I run with traffic here in SoCal; 80 much of the time, but 65-70 at times. If I high-mile it, but not rabidly, some of my individual trips are over 53.

This is an interim update. They will keep it til they hit 40k on odometer which usually takes them about a year. They started doing these interim updates a few years ago prior to the full article once 40k done.
Ah, That is reasonable if they do keep it that long.

I think they are up in Michigan where it's pretty cold in the winter. My Accord Hybrid hates the cold; my Prius doesn't mind as much. (Li-ion vs NiMH?)

I have been a fan of the Maverick since it came out. I could see getting one as my next car.

I'm old now, no use for any larger rig. I love mine, there have been a few recalls; my dealer has come to my house to take care of them.
