Hello guys, sorry my translation, I'm Italian ...
I have a ford focus 1.6 100cv.
Should I replace the engine oil, I have 2.5 liters of Mobil1 5w30, and 2 liters of Mobil1 5w50.
Can I mix them together?
Now the weather is very hot here.
The API specifications are the same.
Thank you.

Why not?
The 2 oils are of the same brand, same family, the same API. Increase the viscosity for sure, but it's not a problem, my focus has 150000km (94000 miles) and the climate is now very hot, so will do well.

Bottom line is: Is there really any oil we can't mix? Seriously.

Can't we mix any combo of synthetics and dino? Can't we mix any combo of straight and multi-viscosities?

I'm dead serious.

Or, I could be kidding.

Probably mixing 2 different oils, different brands, different specific synthetic and mineral, not good. Mix 2 oil with Mobil1 PAO equal bases, additives, and the same family is not a problem I think. Now I have found 2 liter of 0W40 Mobil1 to be mixed with 5w50 M1, the better ..
2 good oil.

From the horse's mouth (not sure what the Italian translation for that is):
"Can I mix different viscosity grades of motor oils?"
"Yes. It is always advisable to not mix motor oil brands, however, different viscosity grades of the same brand motor oil are compatible. Be aware that mixing viscosity grades will turn out a product that is different in viscosity than either what was originally in the engine or what was added." Chevron Corp.
