Bulk oil

Okay I understand, but I doubt the finance guy would have a clue about the oil brand, but Ive seen several chevrolet, Toyota, dogde dealers ect, offer free oil changes. And the way the finance guys make their money is selling all these little programs at the end of the sale, on top of trying to hold back the interest rate so they can keep the difference.

Back when I was in the car bidness, I had a customer come in for their free oil change and service also replace some additional filter, and charged for it. She was upset, but the changes were free as long as the maintenance was done also. Second case a customer bought a new vehicle, and came in around 3,000 miles for first oil change, the service department said its only free every 5,000 miles, and not before. Personally I wished the free oil change [censored] would disappear cause , the small print just [censored] people off. But its a tool too aide in selling vehicles.

New cars are expensive. I would think you are within your right to know exactly what oil they are using. If their oil is API approved and meets the manufacturer's requirements you should be fine.

There is change in the wind. On July 1st changes took effect in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), U.S. Department of Commerce Handbook 130 with respect to bulk oil sales. As noted on PQIA's web site:

"In short, the changes require that fast lubes, new car dealers, and others that change engine oil for a fee (installers) must let you (the consumer) know the brand, SAE viscosity grade, and API service classification of the oil they use to service your car. This information must appear on the receipts consumers receive..."

Some 20 states automatically adopt the NIST Handbook 130 standards (not Florida) and many others are expected to follow suit in time (including Florida).

Pennzoil conventional, straight from NJ. I asked the trucker as he was filling it. With my tinfoil hat on, I asked him if it was "watered down for Walmart" and he said no, it's the same as the bottled stuff.
