BTW, I wanted to use YB Pennzoil and at $3.69/qt, I couldn't pull the trigger. I used Castrol as my brand of choice....in the black death days....that oil did me no favors.

Pablo,
I'm not brand loyal. I did use Valvoline in the early 70s. See page 4 of this thread. Also I used QS in the early 60s.

I stick to the readily available name brands at WM.
I usually like the Pennzoil products (PYB, PP). But I've used other brands on occasion depending on the application.
I used M1 0w40 in my friends Saab, Maxlife, and GTX HM in my other friends Audi (It burns a fair amount of oil, and he doesn't want to spring for Syn), I even used Edge in a Jeep Libery recently, as it was $25 at AAP with Pureone, and $15.00 MIR from Castrol.

That's hilarious!! Dude. Read your own posts! Once you did mention Amsoil, but nearly every post you recommend M1. I have no problem with your loyalty - no need to hide it.

Pablo,
I'm just having fun with this. Of course I'm brand loyal to M1. Just threw in the Valv. and QS thing from many years ago for the funny of it. Amsoil is a great oil, I actually used it for a spell about 1976 or so when I lived in Maine for cold weather service. Worked great. As I remembered it was 10-40.

Of the two choices it would be brand loyal. But reality is I pick a product that I feel is very good for the application at a good price and then stick with it. I'm just not the type to switch brands every oil change to save a buck.

However, that said, I did walk away from M1 in one car due to the availability problems in recent years and went to PP. I was using Castrol GTX in a friends car until the price went up to "silly" levels and changed to PYB on that car. but it takes more than just a few cents to push me away from a product in use.

I'm neither, I buy whatever I feel like using. Sales are a bonus but only as a tertiary factor. I'm currently using oils at both ends of the cost spectrum because that's what fits the performance/longevity requirements.

There are certain brands I won't use because I don't like their corporate games.

Loyal to whatever decent syn like PP/Synpower that is on a smokin' sale. Since I bought 10 jugs of PP last year I guess I'm loyal to PP for the next 2-3 years.

Regular price? Wow.
It's the same price as any other premium/name-brand dino here.
e.g. Castrol, Valvoline, etc.
I can get QS a lot cheaper here than PYB.
(I don't know why since there are plenty of QS loyalists.)

If it's not on sale or closeout...I won't buy it. That is why I stock up. My average cost for synthetic oil is now under $2/qt.

Currently I am trying Redline.

That's the path I've followed as well.
