I'm more comfortabe knowing who made the oil. I'd rather pay $2 a qt for a brand name than $1 a qt for a house brand.
Well, I would pay half the price for house brand oils because on this fourm you can find out who makes any of the house brand oils. All made by reputable companies. Even Supertech has the same ratings as the "brand name" conventionals. If a car can go 200,000 + miles on Supertech, why would I waste the money on "brand name" oils? If I have learned one thing since joining this site, it is that regular oci and a good filter matter far more than the type of oil you use.

Mobil 1 all the way, on sale or not!

Fortunately, Mobil 1 is $21/5 quarts at wal-mart, no problem at all with that price.

Have been using M1 almost exclusively for at least 10 years

2010 Honda Civic M1 (2.5k)M1 5W-20 w/M1 110 Filter
2002 Honda Accord (56K) M1 5W20 w/M1 104 Filter
2004 Mazda Miata (13k) M1 0W-30 w/M1-110 Filter

Change every 5k or 6 Mo whichever comes first
Never had a engine failure or problem, never needed to add between changes. Works for me, no reason to change.

When I had my restored 66 Corvair, I used Amzoil 10W-40AMO because it had flat tappets and the AMO had the proper levels of zinc & phosphorous for that era engine.

I went to the store to buy "low cost" oil for the Accord.

Nothing under $3 qt.

Yeah, I'm brand loyal and I don't have time to chase sales and I certainly don't have time to change oil more than once or twice a year.

Name brand synthetics on sale are my oil drug of choice. 15W-40 diesel/gas oils on sale get my vote as well. Now when is my local Kragen going to actually have the buy one, get one free Delvac gallons in stock :)?

Yup Delvac 1300 15W-30 I picked up a few. :) I also picked up 4 gallons of Havoline DS at .95/gallon.

Uh, how can some people be super concerned about the time it takes to do oil changes but still have many, many hours available to chit chat about oil on BITOG?

There can be plenty of different reasons. For example. I'm on a business trip at this very moment and typing this reply on my Blackberry. My cars are about 1500 miles away. :)

Sale. Running Shaeffer 7000 in my car that I got for 2$/qt., Maxlife in wife's car, MC5000 in daugher's, GTX in son's, Chevron in truck.

It doesn't take much time to do an oil change. I run the car up a ramp, drop the oil and do something else. I always work it into something else that has to be done around here, and boy is there a ton of things that have to be done around here. After some of the experiences I've had with mechanics messing things up over the years the less my fleet is touched by anyone other than me the better off I am.

As a side note if I ever run out of things to do around the house, I can always chat on BITOG while the oil is draining!

I've been loyal to M1 7years. I didn't do many oil changes so the price was no big deal. Trying PP now and shorter OCIs.

I made the change in December 08 to PP from 20+ years of Mobil 1 use. No regrets what so ever! I always used YB as my dino oil and Mobil 1 as my synthetic oil.

I now have Amsoil and Edge too. I'm toying with the idea of Red Line oil or just sticking to Amsoil for my Jeep. Once I decide that will be the oil I stick with for the Jeep. I guess you can say I'm loyal to good oil, not so much brand loyal anymore.

It's called multitasking....I have at least 6 tabs open when I'm on the PC. And unfortunately I have to be at the PC.

I'm waiting for tig1 to weigh in and say he's not brand loyal.

BTW, I wanted to use YB Pennzoil and at $3.69/qt, I couldn't pull the trigger. I used Castrol as my brand of choice....in the black death days....that oil did me no favors.

I tend to be brand loyal unless I find out some new stuff is way better--them I might start brand loyalty to the new one.
I hardly ever buy just based on price. Just when I'm broke.

I used Mobil 1 Synthetic for years. So I was brand loyal.

Then, when I heard / read about Amsoil,I moved to it instead.

Currently I am trying Redline.
