Brand loyalty vs whatever is on sale = vote

I am loyal to myself first.

1) I demand a high minimum level of overall performance, as definded by a large laundry list of conditions.
2) I want value (performance out / money in).

Since many brands can meet item #1, I then shop with #2 in mind. The best price wins.

For two of my cars I flip between SuperTech and Kendall. ST goes in if I need my tires rotated / balanced as I have the lifetime deal at the Walmart T&LE. Otherwise it's Kendall at my local Firestone when they have their $19.95 sale.

On my Corvette, it's strictly M1 and an AC Delco filter.

I'm a sucker for sales, and have zero loyalty to any particular brand.

I'm only interested a certain type of oil. I look for HTHS > 3.5 (Mo thicka, mo betta!) and respectable ZDP levels. I do try to support US mixed oil, so no GC .... yet.

Syn or Dino isn't a huge issue, so long as the price is right. I don't mind changing the oil, so shorter Dino OCIs are no biggie.

It`s not just changing the oil more on conventional oil.I have noticed a definite performance improvement on Synthetic oil.

Brand loyal; however if your giving away EDGE. Well I definitely won't pass on that deal.

You're an excellent salesman LOL.

For me, it depends on the car. If it's a car that I love, it'll be Amsoil. If it's a car like the one I"m driving now, I'll use Syns that are on sale at Autozone. They're always having Mobil 1 and Pennzoil on sale.

I still think you should maintain your car as inexpensively as practical. That includes costs like your time/inconvenience. Over a certain mileage, then an extended drain oil makes sense. The same could be said for over a certain time base.

For example, while one can surely admire Bill in Utah for his marvelous record with multiple high mileage cars, with that type of history... he had a part time second career in oil changing. While I do enjoy tinkering with machines, I'm also lazy in a productivity type view. I can change oil on more vehicles if I don't have to change any ONE vehicle's oil as often.

I plan spending $50 to $60 per 5-6k miles on each car's oil and filter. I change myself, so this allows me to use top oil and filters.

Depends on the car

SE-R SpecV: NOT loyal to oil brands, but to one oil, GC 0W30, maybe Mobil 0w40.

VW Beetle 2.0: Whatever is VW-approved and on sale, usually Mobil 0w40.

Suzuki XL-7: Whatever synthetic is on sale, maybe throw some dino in there too, I do long OCIs here.

05 Legacy 2.5i: I'm only keeping this car for a couple more years, and it's ALL highway miles, so whatever is on sale and run long OCIs.

05 STi: Mobil 0w40 religiously, only 3000 mile OCI, this car sees a lot of action.

Ive never been brand loyal after 45 yrs of changing my own oil because there are so many good oils to try, and I love trying them all. current GMC 4.8 has 182000 , last chevy trk 4.3 had 260000 some, they both loved any oil I put in them and niether ever used any noticeable oil.
My 89 corvette used to get M1 and this summer it got PP ,
I might try something else next, maybe conventional or HM on the advice of my mechanic cuz it uses a little ~

Not brand loyal here.

My car (2003 Saturn ION) would frequently get Q-Torque 5w30 because it was $3 per quart. Later, PP was sold at $3 per quart, so I bought loads of that. the most recent batch of oil was from 2 years ago, Vavloline synpower 5w30 at $2.55 per quart. Before those bargains existed, I got M1 or WM synthetic.

My mom's car (2005 Jeep GC) originally called for 5w30, so I filled it with M1, until Q-torque 5w30 was sold for $3 per quart. I later found 5w20 Q-Torque for $1 per quart, so I used it. Currently, I use RP 5w20, because I bought tons of it at $3.50 per quart.

My father is brand loyal. He only uses M1. He used M1 5w30 until M1 AFE 0w30 came out. Now he only uses M1 0w30.

This could get even more complex when power steering fluid, transmission fluid, and those other oils that don't go into the engine.

I'm name brand loyal. I'll wait till Pens,QS,Chevron, valvoline , Mobil etc is on sale instead of buying a house brand.

I'm more comfortabe knowing who made the oil. I'd rather pay $2 a qt for a brand name than $1 a qt for a house brand.
