2.4L DOHC MIVEC Engine
5 Spd Manual Transmission
Specified Oil: 0W-20

500-800 miles per week (300-400 city, rest highway)

Operating Temperatures: 90F-110+F Heat Index (South Texas)

Driving Conditions: High Humidity, Dusty

Current Odomoeter: 5816

Current Oil: Mobil 1 0W-20

Changed Oil immediately upon purchase, replaced with factory Dia Queen 0W-20, broke in engine with lots of gear changes and varying RPMs for 1000 miles, changed oil with Mobil 1 0W-20.

With my personal driving use, what would the best oil and filter combination be? I was thinking of the following.

Eneos Sustina(sp?) 0W-20 w/ Factory Filter
Royal Purple 0W-20 w/ Royal Purple Filter
AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-20 w/ AMSOIL Filter
Pennzoil Ultra 0W-20
Toyota 0W-20

Multiple 10-30 minute drives per day

Duh, what is the definition of best oil?

Are you looking for free oil?

PU 0w20 is a fine oil if you can locate it on the shelves. The Toyota 0w20 is outstanding too.

What is the factory specified change interval?

In combination with proper maintanence, will provide good protection for 10+ starts a day, cruising stoplight to stoplight, on and off the highway, coastal cities to BFE nowhere desert, on days ranging from hot to slightly hellish, on a consistent basis.

I am a courier, so keeping my vehicle in excellent order is a must (besides the obvious of destroying it by being a courier).

I think your current oil is the best choice. Besides all the reasons stated on BITOG by experts - its easy to find locally. In the long term that matters a lot. Over time you'll get sick of ordering online, shipping costs, driving around burning gas and time looking etc.

I would say you have some pretty extreme conditions since your putting 300-400 a week in city plus another couple hundered in highway in hot texas weather. You can use a good dino at a shorter change interval, but with the amount of driving you do I would use any name brand synthetic and run it to about 7k with a good filter. Some may tell you to go longer but thats alot of city driving in a short period of time.

You are already using one of the best, I doubt you will notice a difference switching between anything you have on your list, I would go with what is cheaper and more locally available, which I am assuming will be the m1 0w20.

Just follow the manufacturer OCI so you don't void the warranty and you will be fine.

What in the heck is that?
Does Mitsu have their own house brand 0W-20?

BTW, I think the M1 0W-20 is a good choice for you're application. The Toyota would be the lightest 20wt, followed by ENEOS, PP, RP, M1 and the heaviest being Amsoil.

I haven't seen PU in a 0W-20 yet.

I've had great success with M1 0w20AFE in the Texas heat, including towing this past August with the 4.7L Ram. Hot idle oil pressure stayed absolutely constant even after extended freeway runs with the RV in tow (I-10 from Junction to Van Horn- you know the country and the heat). I think that particular M1 has a very good high VI base oil.
