This product used to be discussed on here a lot.I did a search and it's one of the only additives that members here like. Does anyone use it as periodic maintenance, like every 3K miles or before an oil change? I'm not a fan of snake oils, even though BG44K is a very good product,IMO. Opinions?

Please forgive me if this is

.

I use the maintenance dose 24/7. You'd have to check the ARX site for updated maintenance dose levels, but I use 3oz per 4.5 quarts.

Seems like a waste of money, if you ask me. If you're using today's clean oil (SN rated) you should have absolutely ZERO need for additives over the course of the time you have your car.

My 07 Civic EX 1.8L is spotless inside after 160,000 miles of using synthetic oil with intervals of 6-12k miles.

I used it but could never achieve the results I was expecting. It seemed that there were some posters on this sight that may have been fake.

I am going to put in about 6 or 9 ounces in my oil and prepare for an OCI at the normal time, but I am not expecting much. I have heard it is supposed to do a lot of things.. but I find the instructions, and types of oil recommended to use, confusing.

Also, +1 on the hype posters (as to the product.)

I'd use seafoam or mmo over auto rx. Easier to find, cheaper and works.
I've seen the threads where posters were accused of being paid, not sure if it was ever admitted to though.
I know kreen is respected by members who have used it. I don't think I've read a bad review on it.

While not everyone gets desired results, saying its a fake would mean there is fraud involved. Are you saying that??

Site BTW is spelled site not sight.

Yes, there were some posters that disappeared. I was following one that had the same vehicle as myself. Their results were incredible. 2-3 mpg increases etc. Engines as clean as new. I drank the Kool aid and ordered. After about 6 months of minimal results I realized I had been duped.

I agree with this.I have been reading a lot about SN oils and it continues to clean an engine upon use and keeps it clean if continued to be used. I'm basing this on what the oil companies test results were and people who have done UOAs.

I asked this q? (About ARX) because I saw it in some research I was doing on keeping the inside of an engine clean.

Exactly. After my bad experience with Autorx I became a PP user. Now I use Ultra.
Dirty engine? Use PP or Ultra on 3000 mile changes.

In my readings and from members testomonies here, this oil cleans an engine very well. PYB does ok also.

So far after 60 cars and a few hundred oil changes, a bit of SAE30 ND top oil at every OCI and a short (~1 week) oci (using leftovers) after ~ every 3 oci is a prudent way to go and the only prescription to prove beneficial and cost effective for me.; This and using Wix and ACDelco non-ecore (CHAMP) filters

Where are you buying SAE30 ND oil? What brand? Is this used for your cleaning procedure?

AutoRX? Nah... I'd pass on that.

I also almost fell for all the hoopla that was going on this site about this product, but being a cheap stake that I am, I could not bring myself to pay that much for an oil additive that I really didn't need. Fortunately some people started to come out and spilled the beans what was going on with AutoRX "marketing strategy" and I crossed that off my list.

That is also one of the reasons I don't belive in any other latest BITOG craze.

The instructions on their site range to anything from "use two bottles for 750-1000 miles, then change oil and filter" to "put 1 bottle in for 4000 miles with a Group 4 oil Royal Purple and another bottle on for 4000 mile Rinse phase with a Group 4 oil" (Royal Purple) So... Being the new owner of two bottles of this stuff, I am inclined to go out, buy some API SM Royal Purple, put a bottle in with each OCI and filter change, run each out to 4000 miles, and call it a day...

Royal Purple is Group 4 (IV.)

It is either that, or put half or 3/4 a bottle in for about 1500 miles or so, and pray it doesn't damage my engine...

So the instructions specify using a group 4 syn. Wouldn't the oil itself lend to a substantial amount of cleaning on it's own, without the additive?
I dunno. There is so much conflicting info on this stuff which instructions do you follow?
