My second "rinse" of auto-rx is almost done. The car runs much better, but engine looks still sludged when I peek through the oil filler hole. That is not to say the ARX doesn't work, but rather the proof that my engine was so neglected (not by me, but by the previous owner). I bought this car 6years ago with 54,000miles, and now it has 134,000miles. I used both synthetic and dyno oil, and never have gone more than 4500miles with single oil change (usually 3000mile with dyno).

Now, should I try the 3rd auto-rx or there is something else I should try? I was thinking to try Lubegard for next oil change.

What do you mean when you say the engine still looks sludged?...IMHO, TWO treatments of AutoRx should have blown it out pretty well.

Sure, try some other products. We are interested if the Lubegard will make a diff.

I have a similar experience; ARX will not, cannot scrape the crap off the metal. The ARX web site calls those stains unimportant. It will refurbish the seals and get into suspension the other sediment so that the filter can trap it out.

As for a 3rd dose, nahhh. Maybe a continued treat dose. I've been running a HDEO (Delvac 1300) after the ARX cleaning in my old wheels with good results.

I would be looking real closely at what oil you use and how often you change it. You might consider Lube Control. It will help prevent new sludge from forming and it is also good at removeing sludge and varnish.

I have been using Chevron supreme for last several oil change for ARX treatment, but used mostly Mobil-1 before and tried Royal Purple for a few times. Don't these Synthetic oil cleans better than HDEO? And Pablo, "engine still looks sludged" means, there are blackish stuff on the side wall and camshafts and other areas in the engine and I can use the finger to scrape it off. So I guess it is sludge. I believe oil pressure of my engine isn't that high (not mulfunction, but that how it is designed).

Sounds like you may want to contact Frank on this one. I haven't seen the inside of my engine but the improvements have been nothing short of amazing as I complete my final rinse for high milage vechicles. I used Chevron Supreme for the first rinse and Delo 400 for the second. It seems the Delo did a much better job on this second rinse as the oil is dirty looking and the seals leaked and resealed themselves in the first 1200 miles. Maybe Frank can tell you if this oil cleans things better but seems my experience says yes it does.

Sentracer,

I would guess that the motor has cleaned up more than you think. Perhaps looking down the oil fill hole is not giving you the real picture. There are typically areas under a valve cover that recieve only a modest splashing of oil vs. critical components that should receive a much more generous flow. ARX works with heat and oil flow to clean. ARX does not volitilize, so where there is no flow, there will be solw to no cleaning.
