What are your extra fees and taxes on top of the simple choice plan?

BTW, T-Mobile simple choice plan is unlimited voice/text with limited fast data (unlimited slow data).

I'm considering a 4-line plan that should be $100 per month. However, T-Mobile refuses to say, how much I'll pay per month total. One of the representative said "maybe $116" another said I had to sign up to find out.

I hate surprises and I'm paying near $20 in those fees and taxes on a 4-line voice only plan that runs $59 per month (way more than 30%). This is in a state that has one of the lowest cellular taxes (13%).

Thanks!

Yes, but the phones are mine and not part of the payment.

Do you remember how much is the plan and how much are the fees/taxes?

I've been with T-Mobile since 2007. A good general rule is that your end cost per month is about 120% of the quoted plan price. That is close enough for budgeting purposes.

I am currently on the $40/month plan - unlimited talk/text, 500MB high speed data (unlimited low speed). This would not be a plan for someone who spends much time watching videos from the cellular network. Do keep in mind that if you allow your phone to connect to WiFi when available that data will not eat into your cellular allowance.

I have always brought my own phone, even before TM started encouraging it. In the long run I find it cheaper to buy a phone outright than to buy it on installments.

I just recently had Tmobile unlimited voice/txt and 3GB of high speed data (but unlimited beyond that at 2G speeds). It was postpaid.

My plan cost was $60/mo and my monthly bill was $68.34.

Their signal strength where I live isn't very good, though, so I switched to a AT&T MVNO.

I dont know what "fees" you are talking about. I have T-Mobile $30 a month plan. 100 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited web. Always $30.

Since I haven't seen a cell phone bill from another state I guess the 120% must apply to Texas. Each state has its own taxes, fees, etc. that get tacked onto various services.

Texas is one of those states that misleads, due to no state income tax. Various fees, tolls, and costs for services that other states provide through general revenue make it more expensive to live here than first meets the eye.

I have had tmobile prepaid for several years.

I pay zero taxes because I buy the monthly refill from callingmart, and sometimes they run coupons so I actually pay less than face value of the card...

And yes I live in Texas, it is still no tax.

+1, except I live in MO

Prepaid FTW!

Does Tmobile do shared on pre-paid plan? I had never come across a prepaid family shared plan. I am not even aware if such a concept exists on any carrier.

Ask on howardforums.

I have heard a radio ad for a prepaid plan for 4 lines for a certain amount.

My tmobile plan is 50, my wife has a 45 dollar verizon prepaid plan with an iphone.

Is that too much? We are both unlimited, hers has only 500mb data.

I run five on AT&T, unlimited everything, share 10GB data, monthly cost with taxes and fees is $199 and change.

I have it (I think) for my kid's iphone for which I paid cash. The $60 medium plan turns out to be $70. I'm a guy who needs a cell phone only for traveling, which I rarely do, but the days of $100 for 1000 minutes that lasts a year seem to be over. I found out for another $20 (plus tax) they will add me, and upgrade both of us to unlimited high speed data and I think talking. There is by the way, a $10 charge for the SIM card, which doesn't seem exploitative. That doesn't include tax, but I presume it goes up proportionately. I wouldn't describe T-Mobile as consumer friendly, they are however, proponents of up-front pricing, which I appreciate.

So, given that this "cellular telephone" fad isn't going away, I'm going to end up being one of those guys with a telephone that does tricks. Brand-X for me, though.

You've got it right. I tried their support website (moderated forum) and I must have used some worlds in their secret censorship dictionary because they deleted some of my posts and blocked me from replying.

That really left bad taste in my mouth. I'm not upgrading to their new plan. I just added $10 unlimited texting to my line and will ignore winning of my kids who would like to have texting and data on their lines. My excuse is: it will prevent you from texting and driving. They are free to text via google on their smartphones anytime they are in WiFi.
