There's ice in Afghanistan?

Yea it's some of the most extreme environments. There's the low desert in the South/north but the central/east is where the 14k+ serious mountains are. Most of the Taliban ingress and supply routes were through there.
There was that infamous video of a 747 coming out of Kabul (6,800ft) when the load came free and shifted the COG of the airplane and caused it to crash. You can see how tall the mountains are in the background.
