Mrs. Jimmy got me started taking One A Day Men's multi-vitamins. I just started taking it yesterday so it is too soon to tell if it will do me any good yet. According to the label it does have a lot of good stuff in it though: Zinc for prostate health, Lycopene for an anti-oxidant, lots of Vitamin C, D and E and B, and it has a good amount of other beneficial vitamins and minerals too. I found it a little funny the label says it has 90 mcg of Moly (120% of my daily requirement)..I guess that is for joints and cartilage health.

These are for men 50 years and older. I am not 50 yet, will be 49 in July but I suppose now is as good a time as any. I also started taking Ginko Biloba for memory and mental sharpness and to help improve my circulation and energy levels. I have moderate high blood pressure which is controlled with a prescription medicine. Anyone else on a vitamin regimen? Is it good, bad or is there no improvement/benefit?

Thanks.

I take a centrum or a vitamin c or a neptune krill oil once in a while when I think of it, and if I am feeling sick.

I get proper nutrition from food - Id not want to be reliant upon pills for nutrition.

That said, Im never sick, and IMO it is because I take some vitamin c and multi when Im feeling something coming on.

GNC Mega Men With DHEA Vitapak for Men over 40. Seem to work for me, actually they make me little hyper for about a hour each time I take them, weird. I know most people don't get the nutrients they needs, so taking a supplement can help, if your body doesn't need it you just flush them out.

I take a specific Men's multi. Do not take Centrum. It contains iron, which is toxic to men. Also if you don't take an omega 3, you should.

If you take only one supplement, it should be a men's multi. If you take only two, it should be a multi and an omega 3. If you take 3, the third should be magnesium.

Oh I forgot to add it take Targets Up & Up Fish oil pill, which is 1200 mg, take two a day. Plus and additional vitamin C Gummie.

I take a basic multi for the 50 and over crowd. From my own research however I believe the best and only truly viable way to get proper nutrition/vitamins is to eat a variety of healthy foods. The micro-nutrients as well as proper vitamin absorption and utilization can only be achieved this way. Many folks in my opinion take far too many vitamin supplements that may do more harm than good. Not good to be an armchair nutritionist.

Centrum contains 18mg of iron. The lowest observable adverse effect is at 100mg, and the minimum toxic dose is 500mg, per the vitamin times safety index.

Now daily requirements are usually based upon the pharmacokinetics of the "standard man" which is somewhere around 160lb and 6 ft. Im over 200, 6ft 5, and active. In reality there is no toxicity from iron unless I eat at fogo de chao every day, and then I have other issues.

Still its a good point

I buy the Centrum-equivalent bottles of Costco's Kirkland brand and take one daily. I think it's analogous to Techron, Regain, and such fuel system treatments. I don't believe it'll hurt anything, and a relatively inexpensive way to help ensure you're body is getting "more" than it otherwise would unless you have a very, very good diet.

I buy the gummy vitamins, vitafusion multivites. I'm still young and dont really need them but I take 2 when I think of it and if Im feeling worn down and a cold/sickness coming on.

There are vitamins in my house, but I never remember to take them. Ginkgo and others don't help much when they are sitting on the counter. I'll get it all sorted out sooner or later.

I take:

Multiple vitamin
Olive leaf extract
D-3
B-12
Vitamin C
Caprylic Acid
2 Dannon Pro-Biotic Yogurts daily
Apple Cider Vinegar 1x month

I take onesource multi's. Sell at walmart 130 for 5.99. Dont think you will notice much but meh for the cost i will pop one every now and than. I also pop the occasional vitamin d. When im feeling a cold vitamin c and lots of water.
