Sardines are awesome, I like em on crackers or else sprinkled with a bit of seasoned salt. Packed in spring water King Oscar brand only for me. Too bad a can of em' is approaching over $2 these days! Tons of omega-3's, lots of calcium from the bones, plus trace minerals.

I like eating em' at work, everyone wigs out about the smell!

No innards or heads on the kippers I've ever had, the spine is an interesting texture but I don't mind it. All that stuff is good for you anyways.

This thread finally made me hungry. I just ate my Crown Prince smoked oysters with Vigo anchovies on Ritz. I find the Crown Prince oysters are small, but not tiny and the Vigo anchovies are firm-fleshed and not overpowering. Some other brand anchovies come out of the tin looking like brown paste, but Vigo are always pink and fresh.

And I can't eat the spine on those herring. That is just beyond the pale...

If there were innards, they wouldn't be called kippers. The heads could be attached...

Yes love them but get rid of as much oil/sauce as possible. The world's best sardines come from western Australia, no industry, world's cleanest ocean etc. From something they couldn't give away some years back they have built an industry to the point where they export sardines. Started by a Sicilian family the web site expl;ains all. See about us and products

I didn't know they sold sardine fillets. Those smoked fillets look delicious.

Season have sardine filets. They have even no-salt-added kippers.

When I was a kid I remember dad buying sardines with the head still on 'em! Wow I'd love to find some of those again! My dad has eaten sardines his whole life for lunch and hunting and fishing trips and this might be one of the reasons he is so healthy. Wow! I wanna go home again! Didn't somebody once say,"..you can never go back home..."? Well that's how I feel lately.
