This is sort of a twist, but I've known of people going to a conventional brand because they are imprest with the offerings of a particular brands products.

Any of you switching over to Castrol GTX after hearing about their new synthetic oil with the idea they must be doing something better in all their other product lines, compared to other brands?

I wouldnt hesitate to use GTX at all, just seems like Castrol prices their product out of "value" status.

Same thing happened to Havoline when they went to the DS stuff.
"Old School" Havoline used to be a great value..not so much anymore.

Hard to justify the cost when Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil 5000 etc are cheaper on the shelf right next to the Castrol.

Otherwise, if it were on sale I'd have no qualms about using it.

I would use Castrol GTX, Edge, Syntec or GC... but the price isn't reasonable for the performance. If they would price themselves in line with Pennzoil and Valvoline I think they would be reasonable.

Funny you guys mention the price of GTX

Just checked Canadian Tire (here in Canada obviously) and the cheapest name brand conv. oil is GTX.

GTX - $19.99
YB, QS, they're $20.99

They do... look it up. Check autozone.com. Castrol GTX, Pennzoil YB, Valvoline: $14.99 a gallon.

Definitely not.. I've been in there before, the prices are correct!
(these prices were taken online though) I think even at Canadian WalMarts the prices are all almost identical for those major conv. oils.
