Amsol Synthetic 0W20 Signature series

My warranty will be over at 100k km. The 40k km OCI is to test the Amsoil Signature series oil for myself.

If I use the Mobil 1 0W20 AFE oil, I will do two 20k km OCI.

The main purpose of this experiment is to see if a 40k km OCI on Amsoil is possible for me. I will do UOA twice to make sure I dont damage the engine in anyway possible.

Amsoil claim/guarantee this oil will last for 40.200 kms ("normal Service").

Most of my driving is highway kms, not heavy traffic, so its easy on the engine and oil.

It would be a pain to get something covered from an oil company vs a manufacturer of an oil related issue happens. Just my two cents.

The Amsoil should last longer. I'd give that a shot and see how it works. If you want to use a comparable Mobil 1 product, use the 5w20 EP.

I am doing the same thing in my '98 F150 (109K miles 4.6L), but with Amsoil 0-20 100% Synthetic. I put it in about 3000 miles ago with an EAO filter. Something tells me this year will be an especially high mileage year for me, with lots of highway miles so we'll see. I'll do a UOA either when I hit 25K miles or next April at the one year mark.

For the folks that complain about the price....get a life. Do you balk at those that buy "more car" than they "need"? Are you the economic police? My audio systems cost more than your cars...I suppose you should begin yelling at me too.

Economic police. I don't think so.Its about the oil man..
Its jokers like you that keep prices high for all of us. I bet you go the the most expensive gas station you can find too. Give that money to Hezbollah..
Audio systems ... talk about getting a life. Stone age..
For some reason I bet you like rap too..

Really? Being an Audiophile is living in the stone age? Or that my interconnects cost more than I have spent on oil in the past 10 years? Or that my Stereophile subscription costs more than 4 P1 filters? Not everyone is impressed with the crummy compressed sound of MP3's. Some of us actually want to hear the music, at home or in the car, music should be enjoyable to listen too.

This site is all over the place. One thread you must be a moron if you don't get at least 10k out of syn oil, warranty be [censored] or not. In the next thread you must have mold between your ears for not following the manufacturers recommended OCI, because you will lose your warranty!

Lets take a deep breath and look at this logically. The OP's warranty will be up soon. So, it is doubtful that his engine will blow up before the warranty is out, so that is pretty much a moot point. If you are paying top dollar for oil, you logically want to get the most out of it. Hence, extended drains.

In the event of a failure, most dealers will check if there is oil in the sump, and pull a valve cover to see the condition of the engine. If it is clean, you are most likely covered. If it looks like that BMW in the sludge thread, expect to open your wallet.

You've thought about this way too much to be considered normal.
You've been assimilated by the BITOG!

No I hate rap, I built my sound system entirely from scratch...

Why am I the joker? You berated the man for his decision to purchase oil at X price. At least I provided him with insight and informed him of the ways he can save money in the future. I clearly did more assistance than you.

By helping someone spend less money in an AMERICAN company (I'm Canadian remember), I am suppose to be assisting Hezbollah? Funny how supporting AMERICAN companies and helping people SAVE money is somehow linked to TERRORISM. Go watch some Fox News and buy some cheap dino oil please.

Do you guys in Canada only get a 100,000 km warranty? Here in the US it is 100,000 MILES. 90,000 km is only about 55,000 miles. You should have over 40,000 miles of warranty left.

How is it done ...plz ?

Honestly, it's 'best' if you type out the results in a post...they will 'stay' with the site way longer than a posted pic.

It's a bit of work, but having the results staying for longer is worth it, IMO. Would love to see that UOA!

The OP can use the following and insert his own numbers for starters; using code(highlight all text desired to appear in a window as seen below, then proceed; while in full reply mode, to click the "#" symbol and notice the "code" option to convert the text into the following appearance:

Code:

So, copy and paste in a new reply; the above text within the window named "Code".

Replace the ?s, 0s, XXXs, etc...with your UOA report's numbers from Black Stone. Once ready to post, highlight all of the reply that is about the UOA itself and follow the instructions given above. "#", code from drag down window. code /code will appear before(code) and after(/code) respectively. Notice, I'm not use the [] brackets as this would convert any text in this reply I'm typing into Code.

Now in the car is PU 5w20. I would like to go 14000 km (UOA will be done too) on this oil till my next big service at 96000 km, "service 4" at the Hyundai dealership.PU 5w20 was done at 82000 kms.

After that service 4 I will fill up with Amsoil Signature series 0W20, for winter time.

I see this hasn't been mentioned and it should be known that Amsoil 0W-20 with it's HTHS vis of 2.8cP and somewhat low 166 VI makes this a very heavy 20wt oil; almost a 30wt.
There's no 20wt this side of RL that's heavier if that's what you want.

Amsoil XLM 5W-20 is actually lighter at all temps down to at least 0C.

In: Mobil1 0W20 AFE with OEM Hyundai oil filter @ 90 000kms.
Plan on doing a OCI of 15000kms this time with a UOA afterward + a particle count on the oil.

Out: PU 5W20 with OEM Hyundai oil filter. Did sent a Oil sample for testing and a particle count to Polaris Labs.
