Was your first bike a one liter monster? Geez. Sense is never "common".

This is statistically true. Plus kids who have to share a car have fewer accidents. FWIW, my Father worked in the auto industry for 40+ years and made us all buy our own cars, maintain them, insure them.

Couldn'r be more true.

Most parents think of their kids as innocent and responsible, but the same kids act all differently in front of their friends and especially boys trying to impress girls, sorry but teens + hormons + powerful car = disaster, no matter what you think of your kid.

Sure some here may claim that they had a powerfull car when they were young and they had no accidents, but how many also agree that they've done some stupid things in these cars and were only lucky they did not kill themselves.

Also, handing down keys to a brand new or almost new Camaro or Mustang for kid's sweet sixteen is only teaching them one thing, parents will bail me out no matter what.

I see that in adults all the time.

When you look at the number of accidents that people with employer supplied (not pool cars) where the costs of dings, kangaroo strikes etc. are included in the flat rate of the car cost (plus they get a pool car to replace it while in getting panel beaten) versus the worker who needs their car to get to work, school etc., the comparison is even more so.

How true... You are only hurting them in the long run.

When I turned 16 I was handed the keys to my late grandpa's '71 GMC.. and this was in 1996

It was a rusty death trap with a blown clutch. It took me a wile to get it running but when i did I had wheels to get me to a after school job that earned me the money to buy a newer pickup.. which i still own today.

All the kids that got handed a new car wrecked them in short time or just generally beat them to [censored].. and their parents just brought them another one.

These are the same type of kids that still lived at home when they where in their 20's...
