my '04 Saturn VUE Iwe bought new and is the longest I've ever kept a car. reliable, simple, easy to work on. my wife really wants an outlook (or an acadia if the outlook supply runs out).
I also have a thing for the previous generation '06 malibu SS; pretty rare car, looks good, has the 240hp 3.9. like the saturn aura also, and the pontiac G6 has a great wedge profile, love that look. best looking pontiac in 20 years, IMO.

All six of the vehicles I've owned were domestic:
3 Chryslers (2 K-cars and a fullsize B-van)
3 GMs (2 A-body wagons and an '05 Park Avenue)

I've liked them all.

My observation is that the GMs were more ruggedly designed and easier to service. Parts availability for the GMs is excellent, too. It's so-so for the Chryslers.

My girlfriend brought a Honda into the household. That one, a 2002 Civic, is my least favorite. It's merely sufficient as far as ruggedness, but serviceability is horrible. It was designed to be assembled cheaply and never serviced again. Parts often cost an arm and a leg.

It would be a complex decision if I were buying a new car. Cost of ownership is important to me, and domestics win that battle easily if depreciation isn't an issue. So no more Hondas. I would give preference to GM and Ford over Chrysler, unless a Chrysler product is much better suited to my needs.

Right now I'm driving a 1996 Monte Carlo.

I had a Chrysler 300M and that was a great car. I've had several Mustangs, and each was solid as a rock. But lately I'm finding myself drawn to a comfortable highway cruiser.

Later today I'm going to go look at a 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII with low miles. The guy says he gets 30+ mpg on the freeway with it. I checked some online reviews, and I'm shocked to see that people are getting such good mileage out of a 32-valve V8. I hope the condition of the car is as good as he says it is... I just might have a "new" car.

All have been great. The worst was the '97 Explorer Sport (3 recalls in the 1st year). We almost bought an Accord once (were approved). However, they couldn't locate the color/exact model we wanted. They also wouldn't order one. I have nothing against "non-domestic". I've just always been treated well, and get the best financing through Ford.
