Seems like a great deal for people with older Euro cars that are out of warranty and eat a bunch of oil... vs buying Mobil 0w-40 or Castrol 5w-40 a quart at a time at the auto parts store for $10/qt like so many people do with BMW/Audi/MB/etc. around here. Even "on sale" those oils are about $28 for five quart jugs. Sure they have manufacturer approvals but once the vehicle is out of warranty it doesn't matter.

So once a vehicle is out of warranty the details of a specification no longer matter? The engine stops requiring the oxidation resistance, minimum HTHS, etc. that a specification may dictate?

Neither a Toyota.

Okay Castrol 0W-40 then, which by the number of approvals it carries is a better oil anyway.

I can tell you a lot of people don't care about that and just buy the cheapest 5w-30 or 10w-30 synthetic instead... i see it every day all day. i think a 0w-40 or 5w-40 even without certifications is still an improvement.

Edge 0w-40 goes for around $27 at full price at Walmart, but more often than not, it's on some kind of sale for around $22-24, so you're not really saving much buy buying this AmazonBasics 0w-40 oil at $22.49.

But if you're on here you're online and that is all you need for a $35 order they will ship anything you want. I've done it successfully many times.
