Am I over thinking the Fram Endurance

So I’ve done a ton of research on filters. I’ve probably done too much. You guys are so good at providing information and cutaways. If a guy goes down this rabbit hole, it seems as if there is no bottom.

Anyrate, I just installed an Endurance filter for the 24 F150 with a 3.5L. Then I found information about the bypass valve leaking on these. This is kinda bothering me. I have bought Microguard Select for the next change.

What are your thoughts on the Endutance? Should I leave it in place? Do I remove it and replace it with the Microgard Select? I do plan on a 5K OCI.

**Crap……apologies mods, mistakenly put this here vs the filter page.

Go visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and buy the Carquest (Blue) Premium oil filter. Plenty of protection inside it.
Last sale they ran was for $8.49 I think.

I compared that filter with the Microgard, both are well respected.

Well, efficiency claims goes out the window when it's not being filtered as tested. Leaky leaf spring is shown here with consistent "ruffles" so there is a likely hood that yours does as well. Only you can decide if it's worth changing but there are other brands with no leaks past the media. Microgard Select, Premium Guard, Purolator One or Boss etc.

It's not actually the bypass valve. It's the leaf spring to end cap metal-to-metal "seal". But ... a leaky Endurance can't be any worse than a non-leaky Boss or Wix XP. 😄

Oops! too late of a reply. Been away for a while.

Even leaking, its filtering a majority of the oil constantly when running and the oil will be clean.

An issue would raise it's head if the engine was pounding out bearings, eating a cam or melted a piston and was chewing cylinder walls. Unless you are Mr. motorsport too late doesn't matter even if 15% of volume is bypassing.

p.s.: Guessing a modest price increase coming on China sourced filters?

Exactly why it’s important to run a high efficiency leaking oil filter 😂
