A bad day at work

Initially I thought so too.

But train tracks across the desert means that they'll skulldrag the wrecks off to the side, push the ore into piles, and relay some track.

There are some failry strong off road cranes that can do 50-60km/hr along access roads, and 100km/hr on paved roads.

No overhead lines, no shrubbery to chop down, canyons to reach down etc.

..and the solar powered communications link (or whatever it is) is still standing ..

..or did they put that up after the accident

China can do without for a bit.

they would probably need to mill the ore to meet the chinese factory specs before it would get bought.

thing is, there is one road and one railway in and out of WA to the eastern states. There are others but it means A LOOONG detour.

one mishap and you can't go anywhere.
