You are the new owner... start from scratch with whatever oil you want... new battery... air and fuel filter... 91gas... new plugs.
Change that SC oil. Should be info on the web about cleaning out SC for best performance... gotta be some build up after 16 years.
FYI... what's the rest of the car look like?... 137k not that bad...

Its a 1 owner car so i would hope it was well taken care of. Also it has no rust and its been in illinois all its life so that tells me alot and yea im doing a oil change this week replacing air filter etc. I heard bad things about dexcool but thats what is in there now and the car seems to run fine and no overheat.

Don't try to replace your dexcool coolant with anything that is not dexcool compatible. Your surely asking for trouble them. The bad things you probably hear are about the plastic intake manifold gaskets that deteriorates with dexcool coolant. Then the only thing you can do is replace them. That might have already been done on your car considering it age and miles.

Dish Water …… errrr…...I mean decreased internal viscous friction and therefor a minor increase in MPG. But I also believe less margin for error with respect to protection when pushing the engine hot and hard. The anti-wear additive package comes into play here too.

But, most people don't push engines very hard for very long, they just drive in a normal (and legal) way down the road, so this is why most American car manufacturers now recommend resource conserving (ILSAC GF-5) oils. In Europe they tend to recommend the Euro standard A3/B4 oil that are higher protection, longer drain oils.

All oils are a balance. It's just a slightly different balance point. Economy and Protection are important to all oil and car companies.

Over here I can get two name brand full synthetic 5W-30 oils. One is ILSAC and the other is A3/B4, and because of that they have a different HTHS (high temperature high shear) viscosity. High performance cars (like Porsche) generally require a higher HTHS (usually 3.5 or above).

M1 5W-30 (ILSAC) HTHS = 3.09
Castrol Edge 5W-30 (A3/B4) = 3.6

Both are great oils, depends on your application.

How does this oil sound? My car is supercharged so i wanna be sure its gonna be protected as i do like to go fast with it sometimes.
