The W72 was a 400 Pontiac. With this engine, the scoop would read TA 6.6. If you had the base L78 400 Pontiac or the L80 403 Olds, the scoop would say 6.6 litre. Lots of debate about this over the years, but what I typed is how it really was according to build sheet and option listings obtained from Pontiac, etc.

Brings back alot of memories! My 78 Trans Am I had repainted with the Amerflint color Irridesent (sp) Blue. No decals! The color was deep!

I can remember traveling across Alligator Alley late night at about 100 mph and that was with the old 2 lanes.

I think 10 mpg was what I was getting.

Weak points were the saggy doors and worn out window guides. My limo tint was getting scratched through from the bad window guides. I had numerous other problems with it that tainted my enjoyment. It still was a fun ride regardless.

Only shut the doors with the glass all the way up or all the way down. Don't shut em if the glass is 1/2 way or so......You will have lots of glass if you do.
