Hello all, first time caller, long time listener here. Ive used this site for a lot of helpful information and Im hoping you all can help here as well. I have used Mobil 1 my entire oil change life so far(about 30 years) and have never had a problem. Recently we bought a Durango with the Hemi and I always change oil first thing. When we got it, it was running quiet and smooth. After I changed the oil to Mobil 1 with Wix it sounded more "clattery". We ran it for about 3000 miles and i contacted the seller to see what he was running. He used Valvoline, Im assuming Advanced. So, I just put in 6.8 quarts of Valvoline Advanced 5-20 with a Mopar filter. The "clattery" sound is gone again. I was never a fan of Valvoline as I just assumed it was cheap oil. After some research, I can now see that I am just an idiot. My question is, is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum what I should be using? I know its factory fill for some SRT Hemis, didnt know how it compared to the top tier Valvoline products? Anyway, thank you for any help, direction and advice!

You can’t go wrong with any of the ones you listed. The PUP has more detergents, so a better cleaning ability. The advanced and extended are very similar, with the extended having more moly and a few other things. I’d pick whatever is cheapest at Wally World or wherever you buy your oil.

Valvoline EP or Pennzoil Ultra and Quaker State ultimate, are one of the best oils of various viscosity's you can get at Walmart at a great price are the ones I would pick over the other and often overrated oils there. it really grinds down to brand preference of these oils, results are very similar.

I use Valvoline EP 5W-30 in my Tundra and it has a good chunk of moly.

Price wise, it's more expensive than M1 EP or Euro, Castrol Euro, Pennzoil and never seen it on sale. I don't do UOA but have seen very good reports!

Don't hesitate to try the EXTENDED PROTECTION HIGH MILEAGE. ...... 5W30 runs great in my hemi .... super quiet and smooth
I did hear good things about that version as well, just didn’t know if it was as applicable as I only have 60k on it currently.
