5W30 or 0W40

Hello everyone,
Question: Have a 23 Hyundai Santa Fe which calls for 0W30 oil. Could I get away using 5W30 or even 0W40? Would appreciate your advice greatly!! I really like Pennzoil but they don't produce 0W30 oil except for European. And I know Mobil 1 has 0W30 but as I said, I really like Pennzoil. Would LIKE your thoughts on the matter! So, you don’t like better base stock and additive package in European oils?

Depends on the temperatures you see in your area. Remember, 0W is the winter weight. Most regions don't get cold enough to need a 0W oil. Search for used oil analysis for the engine and see what results others have observed. I don't know enough about that particular engine to identify its foibles. Generally, those oil weights will be interchangeable for most vehicles.

This is a question for my curiosity the 2021 Santa Fe with 2.5 turbo are built in Alabama. The manual that came with the car recommends Quaker State but to my knowledge QS doesn't make a 0w30 in the U S. So what kind of oil did this car leave the Alabama plant with?

I bought a 2021 Sonata as my new daily last year. 2.5T Smart Stream engine. It suits my needs in a daily driver. Owner's manuals says nothing but 0W30. Been using Mobil 1. Did an analysis at 27K. Oil and engine immaculate. I used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W40 in my previous daily. That engine was also immaculate at 100K when it was totaled.
I'm in Texas and moving back to Arizona in the spring. Both have summer weather temperatures at 100+ of course. 0W30 is rated at -35 to 86F. 0W40 up to 104⁰. I'm thinking of going back to 0W40. Good idea? I'm not overly concerned with Hyundai saying is...

Just curious.
I have read on the web some suggestions to go 5w40 or even 5w50 for these engines.
On bitog there was several mentions of 0w40 being a slightly thicker 5w30.
Any ideas of what's gonna happen if used in the long run?

I have a 2023 Hyundai Kona N which has a 2.0 T-GDI engine which requires 0w30 that has the API SN+ and ILSAC GF-6A certification.

I'm coming up on my first oil change and looking for a recommendation on which 0w30 to use which meets those requirements!

I am a shop owner and need to ask a question about oil for the Hyundai/Kia 2.5 turbo engine. I have a customer that bought a Santa Cruz with that engine. The oil filler cap, owner manual and Prodemand says it needs 0W30 API SN+ engine oil. As I am planning to make his first oil change, I asked a service advisor at our local Hyundai dealer about oil and how much they charge for it. I was surprised by his answer. Why should Hyundai care if a 0W20 or 0W30 is used as long as the 2nd number is 20 , 30 or even a 40 (i.e. Europe) ?
I would think a 0W would also help Hyundai's CAFE numbers too ? Other than perhaps volatility , the OW oils are better (cold weather use only be darned !) ... All 5W20 oils are "meh" - might as well use a conventional as a 5W20 synthetic oil doesn't really buy you a whole lot as compared to a 5W30 synthetic or the 0W oils ? ...Is anything going to spin out , scorch , or otherwise going to grenade at start up ? *And what does it really mean by saying "The Hyundai Theta...

If you’re absolutely stuck on Pennzoil and don’t see temps below -25f or so Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 will serve you well. Personally I’d run ESP 0W-30 available at Walmart.

All the spec (manual) say's is to use 0W30. That's about it. Heard on You Tube I can use 0W20. But I think that is too thin. Thanks for reply!
