5W-30 instead of 0W-20 for 2016 Toyota Camry 2.5 Hybrid

0W-20 is the label on the oil cap in 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid

I went to a parts shop to buy oil and the seller said it is better to use 5W-30 for hot weather, he said 5W-30 will protect the engine better than 0W-20 for high temperatures summer.

Is it true? Thanks
Lol. 0W20 in the Texas heat doesn’t skip a beat.

The oil flows at the same rate 0W20 or 5W30. We ran our Fusion Hybrid on both (using discounted synthetic) and traded at 157K running like new … That car will do fine with either of them …

It’s gonna blow up, don’t do it! That poor engine will grind itself to death on that thick molasses.😂

It is a very well document fact here on BITOG that oil flow is everything and depending on one’s imagination, it flows in all sorts of ways. It could be down a wooden plank or straight out of a bottle and into a glass jar.
At the end of the day all that matters is flow. You want that oil flowing at all costs. You wouldn’t want honey in your engine, or jello or molasses now would you? Well, stay away from anything thicker than 0w20 oils.

Highly debatable, but not really especially if the 5w30 is not using near the same base oils as the 0w20.

Don't ya know that thick goopy 5w-30 makes moedurs last a bazillion miles silly. Watery 0w-20 bad, engine kablooey right after warranty.
