2026 Ford Maverick Platinum

Who would buy this? I've seen and read rumors of a 2026 Ford Maverick Platinum truck.
Platinum trim would be above and beyond the Lariat trim.
So far, I never bought or owned a Maverick truck. I've considered a Bronco Sport Badlands. I currently drive a Lincoln Corsair and it's going way in 2026. Seems there will be a short limited production run of the Ford Escape/Lincoln Corsair in fall of 2025. Production ceasing at Christmas holiday break.
I was tempted to replace my Lincoln Corsair with another Corsair. Now the Maverick Platinum sounds appealing.
I'm just curious how many people would actually spend for a Platinum Maverick truck?
A Platinum trim loaded would probably push $50,000 maybe more with tariffs since it's imported from Mexico.
I guess I've been spoiled and there are some features I have with the Lincoln I don't want to give up. Those options look like they might be available in a Platinum trim.

Even the base trim got too expensive, might as well buy a Colorado. I liked these when they first came out at $20k for an XL hybrid, but at almost $10k more, no way.

I purchased a Lincoln Corsair Reserve in in 2024. It's not ridiculously expensive. MSRP was $50,200. I paid $46,800 X-plan pricing.
I have no need for a new vehicle. But the Corsair and Escape are going away.
I have some features not found on the Maverick, Escape, or Bronco Sport.
I have LED adaptive headlights.I have the package with heated/ ventilated seats.
I'm nearly 50. My night time vision isn't what it used to be. Those headlights are amazing.
After a hot day in construction trade I can say those ventilated seats feel pretty **** amazing. Features I don't want give up. If those ventilated seats find their way into a Maverick this would be interesting.

To me the automakers just don't usually get it. I'm in a situation I'm an empty nester. I don't like a big vehicle. I don't need a big vehicle. I don't want a big vehicle. It isn't the issue that I can't afford a big vehicle. I could buy a new F150. I simply don't need it or don't want. The Maverick would do what I need it for. I wish it was a little more luxurious.
Ford teased with rendering of a Lincoln version of the Maverick truck. They even named it Lincoln Ace.

Yes, I can buy a big truck for that. With base equipment. Ford sells an F150 Tremor. It's $70,000+ . Ford sells a Maverick Tremor. It's about $42,000.

Coming from the Lincoln, would you use the truck bed? It doesn’t sound like thats been a need or interest for you? Maverick hits a sweet spot for 90% of truck owners in that it does truck stuff without needing the full weight and size and cost of a full-size. That’s part of why it is so popular. It is an excellent tool that is very efficient at doing what it does. The interior to me feels like a recycled coke bottle. This is very different from anything Lincoln.

I do not know a single disappointed maverick owner - but the ones I know are guys who drive for practicality and aren’t particularly moved towards anything vehicular… they want a tool to get them there and back so they can focus on something else.

Yeah, you can get a big truck, and the maintenance/gas that goes along. If you need a big truck, great. Everywhere I look there are "big trucks" with empty beds running around. I find the Maverick does all I need, in the rare occasion I need to haul something big I can rent a trailer or truck from HD, $20/hr.

That's me, practicality. Would I use the bed? Idk. It's there. I'm sure it would be useful for some stuff. Like you, I use a trailer in occasion. I have access to a 5.5 x 10 utility trailer. Works great for larger items or long lengths of lumber. It's a basic single axle trailer. Gross weight of 2990lb. Perfectly matches my vehicle capacity.
I like the Maverick now that's it been in production a few years. Lots of 3rd party aftermarket accessories to personalize your ride.

If you want a luxury car, buy a luxury car, because you're certainly not getting a useful truck. Usually they are so loaded down with frills that you end up with about 1000 lbs of payload, which by the time you put the family, dog and a small amount of stuff in the bed, you're not towing anything or doing any kind of 'truck stuff' with it since you'll be over all of your weight limits.

Fair thinking. You may find the convenience of having the truck bed to be /excellent/. I can’t go back to an SUV. I tried. Like you, I would at least need a trailer. But then if I’m getting wood or anything on the way home, I have to think ahead and drive the trailer all day. Which still isn’t bad. I grew up with wagons and minivans and the suv was a natural extension. But after buying a gen 1 tundra, found the utility to be excellent. We can knock 4 door trucks when thats in vogue, but they haul the family, and the hardware trips, and for folks with campers or boats - one vehicle does it all. Plus riding position. Plus popular appeal.

I recently sold my f150 and tried to go back to a SUV and couldn’t. Ended up in a Tacoma. The Tacoma is probably close in footprint to the maverick. It’s a little more nimble in traffic, has a half-usable back seat (my f150 was not the full cab), and carries most of my regular trips without much trouble. I have to take more care to tie larger items down better in the smaller bed. The utility of a 4 door truck, even a smaller one, is excellent if you have an actkve lifestyle with projects around the house.

I took 10 gallons of oil to the turn-in Saturday. Unfortunately one of them spilled big time and was an unholy mess. I threw my carry bottles in the bed for the drive back without a care. A carpeted suv would have needed at least a little care.

Sure, but he's probably not hitching up to any kind of trailer or doing anything other than driving it around. He's probably not going to ever put anything in the bed other than maybe some luggage.

He puts Home Depot stuff in the bed, coolers, boat stuff, but he's not tossing an ATV in there. He has towed with it, but like a boat or landscaping trailer, not a camper.

My 70+ YO father in law bought a F150 Limited because he wanted a ‘luxury’ type vehicle and he’s on the tall side. I was the only one who ever really put it to use hauling anything, and that usually entailed bags of mulch, etc or some 2x4s. In fact, it’s ‘code name’ was the Pimp Truck, as thats about all it was good for, pimping around.
