Ford Maverick 2.0 EB Oil Recommendation - Towing

If you stick with that, you'll find out the hard way it isn't.

So didn't watch the video did ya? That video was about the 1.5 not 2.0 and about 5k service intervals. Nothing about the brand of oil used. Could have been mobil 1 in there for all we know. How was the motor driven? No idea. Highway? City? Race days? Just 5k mile intervals was all he said. The oil in all my vehicles get changed every 3k regardless of brand. All hard driving miles. Used Amsoil back in my 99 f150 for a very short time. Did not see a benifit. Sold that truck with 200k at 20yrs old its still on the road with MC pumping through it veins.

very short time. Did not see a benifit [sic]
Were you expecting to see some magic in a “very short time”? Rainbows out the tailpipe or something? The benefit of a boutique is realized with long drain intervals and over many miles.

Sold that truck with 200k at 20yrs old its still on the road with MC pumping through it veins.
There we go. Good luck extrapolating your experience with an old engine to one of these new turbo, fuel-diluting monsters. I guess some people have to learn the hard way.

Let us know when you start having issues. We’ll be happy to help out then.

It’s likely why (along with the poorly made Motorcraft filters) that the 5.4 3v got such an undeserved reputation as a motor with poor timing system life. Mine still made it 150k mi with 7500mi OCIs during previous owners before I decided to have the timing system refreshed, though it’s an older engine design with no boost. Looks like the MC oil isn’t up to snuff on these boosted engines running hotter temp chambers. Wonder if this was a Bronco?

That was the 5.4 2v right? It was known as a more or less bulletproof engine in taxi and police fleet use.

Oil is cheap, engines arent

Buy the best oil you can afford
Adopt a 5k OCI or less
These Ecoboost engines have direct injection
Fuel dilution will limit oil life
