2025 so far EV sales up 28%

Indeed they are, in the US as few as 8 individuals may be responsible for nearly all of the vandalism. I have a feeling the scope stateside maybe hyped up 100x worse than it actually is because of 1 prominent case. (Aka vehicle vandalism in general dwarfs the Tesla vandalism cases by a large factor)
Many times more than 8 videos on X of Tesla vandalism.

It's liberals now though. It used to be right wingers breaking chargers of cars plugged in or driving owners off the road. I've experienced it multiple times. It comes from a place of anger and lack of intelligence. Not any part of it is ok.

You can be as indignant as you want about it, but it's only the side that changed with the hate. It's put a lot in perspective for me. I don't trust anyone these days.

Not right wingers but rednecks. There is a difference.

Right wingers didn't firebomb Bud Light breweries. Or vandalize Superchargers.

I don't disagree. I definitely lean right. I think that's what makes this whole thing feel so strange. That may say a lot about the area I live in. I just got the thumbs up from a whole crowd as a I drove by a rally for a local congressman with a 50ft inflatable Trump when I was in my Model Y Performance. What a weird experience. I wasn't looking for a political vehicle when I bought it.

It'll be interesting to see if the sector keeps growing and others fill in the hole Elon blew in his company, or if the sector itself will stall and if so for how long?

The biggest problems are actually: interest rate increase, electricity price increase, global over production due to China's economy cool down, pandemic production shortage going away, gas price volatility due to geopolitics.

I wish EVs from every company stand on their own feet instead of relying on gov subsidies soon, like hybrids once did. I have high hope for models like Chevy Bolts.

What makes you think EV sales rely on "gov subsidies"?

Before Biden Tesla was selling all the vehicles they could make, without Federal tax credits, competing against other EV makers who were still in their original allocation of 200,000 tax credits.

Tesla was in rapid growth mode at the time. Our 2018 Model 3 got $7500 tax credit and the 2019's got half that.
I would not say Tesla relied on subsidies, but it sure enticed buyers like me. I did not get a tax credit on our new M3P, but after experiencing the benefits (our use case) of the 2018 I didn't need the enticement.
Because other EVs sell at negative margins, any subsidy has to help.

Of course now, all car sales will be in trouble due to tariffs. Strapped customers will be even more so. My guess is, EVs are in trouble for various reasons.

I'm picking up my Tesla in a few hours. So that's at least one sale today.

Carbon credits? Maybe subsidies is the wrong word but government intervention.

@Sumboodie outlined it nicely in his comment, feel free to re-read it. Leasing a vehicle means you have nothing in the end other than expenditure. Good for you.
I would argue that, in the course of buying a vehicle you also have nothing, because for many people the loan is under water. Oh sure there is GAP insurance but that doesn't mean your asset has any value.

If you are going to keep the car 10 years, buying makes sense. Most people don't keep them that long.

The last pic I posted of one of my Motorcycles got deleted, along with the thread. I don't think the pic or the post broke any rules? So for now at least I'll keep my pics to myself. It is Ultra Red Plaid.
Now I really want to see it, especially if you got the Arachnid wheels. That color looks killer on everything.

Kind of weird, but I understand. I've had a lot of weird stuff get deleted too even when I thought it was mild.

Can I borrow the car? I'll be sure and gas it up when I bring it back. In a week or so, that is...

Neat! If I didn’t already have the Prologue I’d be buying a Tesla right now. I expect pics and at least a short review ;) what Tesla did you get!?

And understand I’m talking US only.

I get about 10 videos of Tesla damage a day and none of the cars have US plates.

So Even When you have individuals with 100+ counts of vandalism?

Even when you have a small number of real damages (fires, broken stuff, smashed) but a large number of scratches and paint swipes?

Also when close to 80,000 not-Tesla cars are vandalized in general per year…

Also the list of individuals being charged has mostly been <25 with many under 18, very few voted in the last election, many identifying as independents / non-affiliated , some being supportedly conservative.

The Tesla “protests” in this area at least have been hospice and geriatrics oxygen tanks and all with signs, so it’s doubtful those folks are committing vandalism off their wheelchairs.

I don’t think the reality of an unsorted group of a-political angry youth aligns well with the narrative being presented. Age and income have more to do than other factors.

I would lean more to this being a class based riot with foreign agitators
even though the only thing that groups these people is 4chan as outside a couple people they aren’t organized and it’s completely random.

Add to this Tesla vandalism has been in my feed pretty steady for at least 8 years, usually at charging stations in the past.

And how do you know this? Some Scientific study perhaps?

Look, vandalism is wrong. As a Tesla owner since Dec 2018, I have numerous detractors, even on this forum. Luckily I have not been vandalized. Personally I respect other's property.
