Honestly, this vehicle would be perfect for me if I had not purchased the Ram. Small open bed for occasional use. Near Prius fuel economy.
I should just sell my Ram now and wait for this.

I think it will sell, lot of the suburban homeowners who need the small pickup bed carrying to keep the stuff out of the inside of their crossover SUV. Can pull a small utility trailer if needed. It is not going to replace, or even marketed as a replacement for, a conventional truck. Ford still sells as many F-150 through F-350 as they can build it seems. I do see it maybe taking some Ranger sales as it meets that suburban homeowner buyer needs that the smaller Ranger was kind of targeted to.
For me, the CVT with the hybrid kills it. I just don't like CVTs. I would be one of the non hybrid turbo 4, 8 speed buyers if I was looking at this. But not in my need or want.

Seems to be a lot of Ford Haters here. I like the Maverick. We will see if it is a success
I would bet it sells well. Far cheaper than the Honda which just looks like a mini van that got the chopsaw treatment. It will do most of what people need for a small utility type vehicle. AWD in the hybrid would be nice but maybe there just wasn't enough room for everything?
As a lot of us feel, trucks have gotten way too big and being able to buy something like the old Ranger or S10 trucks size wise would be nice.

my 2019 jeep with 40k miles and 3 years old is worth 28200 to carmax... i paid 28500 (37k msrp)
I heard some noise in the dealer group this week that Carvana/Vroom has been scaling back on their offers, so if I am going to do it, I would have to act fast.
You'll never be able to find a $20k one, but I think they will sell like crazy and be the latest fad.

I'm no ford or small truck guy anymore but lets look at it without bias. It comes as a full 4 door hybrid as standard for 20-22k and even base model fords these days are pretty well equipped. You get 4 doors not an extended cab, and a practically sized bed for the vast majority of people these days who buy some soil and mulch bags. a new grill perhaps and maybe take a large dog in a kennel to another place. Or go to Galveston with their cooler, folding chairs, small grill, and fishing rods to swim in motor oil and take their fishing rods to catch and cook some group II marinated fish, If they get lucky they may catch a PAO marinated fish. If you want to go on a vacation just spray the bed with water and use a wood broom with dish soap to scrub it then rinse and dry and load it up with luggage and put a tonneau cover on it.
At near 40mpg and 4 doors as a standard that starts at $21k, which i can believe since ford is pretty straight with their prices, I am interested in this truck. I was planning on keeping my old worthless but solid sierra to use when i need the bed and buy the next gen Prius to commute but the maverick is actually compelling if it isn't unreliable. i may get it instead.
in my opinion the ranger doesn't make sense. it's hardly any smaller or cheaper than the f150 that's much better which leads people to get an f150. This maverick however is cheaper and comes with 4 regular doors and as a very efficient hybrid all as standard.

But the ranger market is in a confusing area and about no one buys them. the f150 on average sells 8-9x than the ranger in sales reports and that's not surprising.
I owned an old small body ranger before and my friend got a new ranger but then traded it in for a 3.3L f150 not even 5 months after and i didn't blame him. The truck hardly made any sense. I drove it and didn't understand it since I also drove a new f150 before that and both 4 door trucks on the lot with their discounts aren't far away.

A lot of us need an area to occasionally carry small things that are too dirty for an interior while being practical, affordable, efficient, and utilitarian, so i agree with you it'll sell big.
Remember when sedan people got mad at the transition from cars to CUV's since they were seen as equally priced, almost as efficient, but more practical and thus a better value. Now i can see CUV people doing the same towards this CUT's like these.

They have the Escape hybrid for years . Not sure of its dependability . I think it was shared with Toyota . This should give the Hyundai Santa Cruz a run for the $ .
