2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2.7L High-Output Turbo Engine Oil Recommendations

Maybe HPL NoVII 5w-30 and a PPE filter?

Is there anything more robust? Definitely most expensive!

It's a really NICE 4 banger, though. Over 300hp and 400lbft torque.

I'd love to hear feedback from folks with these engines in their vehicles. The Cadilliac CT4 offers a version of the 2.7, which has caught my attention.
Our 2.7 4x4 has no problem doing what a half ton should do
On average it hauls about 950+ tools and materials in the bed sometimes nearly empty

I have plenty of 3/4 and 1tons in my fleet so no need to over work this truck

It however burns about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart at 3k if a person were to run it up to the OLM max by my calculations it works be nearly 2 quarts low 😳

The only V8 I would consider in the GM 1/2 tons is the 6.2

Maybe it's just me but the 2.7 feels better driving then the 5.3. The quarter mile time is about the same and they tow about the same unless you option the 5.3 with the max tow package.

It's been 1 year and 10000 miles since the purchase of my 23 Sierra and no regrets on the engine choice.

We have four 2024 Chevy Silverado Single Cab Long bed work trucks with the 2.7 in our work fleet as of Feb this year.
They've been great so far .
One co-worker has a 2022 Silverado with the 5.3 as their personal vehicle and they like the 2.7 better.

Why such a small engine for a big truck

Apparently GM hired some college boys to make decisions like this

He's the guy that got dropped on his head a few times

Qs or supertech will be fine or pay more for mobil 1, valvoline or castrol either way you will get the same life out of that engine.
Look at U.O.A. of supertech, wear material even or less than the more costly oils

So to do a quick comparison, a Ford F150 with twin turbo Ecoboost, with miles of timing chains (LOL) is speced for a Motorcraft Synthetic Blend (which is 80% conventional oil) for a 10,000 mile OCI.

I'm making an assumption that the Chevy Silverado's 2.7 Liter Turbo is similar to Ford's Ecoboosts.

So, any Dexos 1 Gen 3 5W-30 oil should be fine.

But to be on the safe side, a Euro oil like Quaker State Synthetic Euro 5W-40 A3/B4 available at Walmart for 22.97 for a 5 quart jug could be a good fit.

Mine is a great work truck at about 45 k now
As mentioned it burns about a quart every 4k to 5k of the three brands I have ran so far no change in consumption
Castrol 5w30 Mobil T&SUV 5w30 and AC Delco 5w30 (Mobil bottles) all Dexos oils

Curious to know where the 80% conventional motorcraft syn blend makeup came from?

I guess I'm pretty lucky so far...I'm at 3600mi on this oil change but still looks like no consumption. 13k miles.

I may consider Castrol syntec
They say it's easier on the cats, who really knows.
As long as it still protects well, I guess I'm not sure on either

The GM 2.7 is one of the most reliable GM engines made today, or in recent times. I was the lead block manufacturing engineer for it.

A high quality 5w30 or 0w40 would be my choice.
What else would you say are the most robust GM powertrains of present or recent times?

I had googled it with this: What percentage conventional oil does a synthetic blend oil have?

Answer returned by google:
Most blend oils will have a synthetic oil content varying from 10% to as much as 25%. The idea behind the creation of such motor oils is all about offering some of the inherent benefits of synthetic oil, while still sticking to conventional motor oil as the prime component.
