This sample was pulled from my 2016 Dodge Charger 3.6L with 66,000 total miles and 11,000 miles on the oil and 27.5 months in the sump and the consumption was zero. The oil filter was changed at 5,000 and 10,000 miles total, as the oil is cleaning carbon from the internals as we saw in my previous posts. The oil is HPL 5w-30 CJ-4 HDEO. The lab is Wearcheck.

This car gets driven around town, to the airport, getting groceries, etc. I don't think there was a single trip over 50 miles for the duration this oil has been run. All gasoline was E-10.

The TBN is pleasing, but without a baseline the wear metals data in the UOA doesn't mean much. I will run this oil another 5,000 miles and sample again.

My vote was inline at above 5 on TBN! As was most votes? haven't seen the latest stats. Do these engines have higher copper wear?

Here’s a 5K sample of 5qts of MC syn blend and 2qrts of redline 5W-30 that I used on my truck
PPM were 8 on iron and 8 on copper
How’s that compare with HPL ????
Thanks for your info 👍

Curious to know the reason(s) the HPL 5w-30 CJ4 HDEO was selected over the other oils HPL has to offer for this application.
HDEOs are my preference, it's me and has nothing to do with HPL. I grew up using fleet oils in everything and continue. The extra dispersants, detergents, and alkalinity in the HDEOs are where it's at for me.

OP has nearly 2x the iron per 1000 miles but this is tough to compare as both engines will have their own normal/baseline.

I grew up using HDEOs too. Dad taught me that Diesel engine oils had more detergents and I later learned that many times, there are more anti-wear additives too.

I have always used names like Rotella, Delo and Delvac in everything since.

I am using up my stash of Delvac and Rotella because I plan on switching to HPL. I have tried some of the HPL CK-4 10W30 in my wife’s Subaru Outback. High Performance Lubricants oil dislodged some carbon that was later trapped in the oil filter. This is a car that I have maintained since it was new. I was impressed by the result and continue to be impressed by the reports from BITOG members too.

Am I reading this right? You’ve run 2 + yrs on an engine oil…..trying to clean it up? HPL handled it well.
Yes, the run time for this oil so far is 27.5 months. My intention was not to clean the engine, because I didn't know anything needed to be cleaned. The cleaning is one of the benefits of running an oil with AN and esters. There is plenty of life left in the oil, so I'll keep running it.

11k OCI and 27.5 months in the engine = Severe Neglect. Regardless of what the Oil Analysis says, your engine is likely full of sludge
and on its way to a premature catastrophic failure.

A soccer mom doing 3k to 5k/6month OCI with cheapest oil and filter would be doing better maintenance (maybe even the best maintenance).
If I were buying a used car and owner said they were doing 11k/27.5 month OCI, it would be a disqualifer, and I would just walk away.
