Was doing the Tbelt on the focus yesterday, had to stop today due to possible rain. I figured you guys might like this.

105k miles, previous owner purchased the car from a dealer used with 40k miles. I bought it from her with a broken clutch at 82k miles. She kept all service records while she had it, every 3-4k quick lube oil change. I did the first OCI at 2k cause the car had been sitting for 2 years, then 5k-6k after that, using Motorcraft, Valvoline oils, next fill will be Quaker State 5-20.

The motor is the DOHC 2.0l ZETEC.

Where are the pics?

I had a 2 liter Zetec in my '99 Escort - excellent engine, zero problems!

Whatever bulk oil dealer and quick lube use is good if OCI is reasonable. These pictures proved that not all dealers and quick lubes are crooks.

I take it you have to have a special socket if one wanted to get those cam caps off?

That was nice of them.

I had the same clean experience on my sons 2001 ZX3 at 80K. At 105K you may want to check the valve clearances. IIRC the interval is 75K. His were fine at 80K.
BTW as you know by now this engine is loaded with external torx head fansteners.

Are you sure you did not wash it with kerosene just to fool us? :)
It looks amazingly clean from the top.

All this proves is that if you do routine oil changes at 3K to 5K using *any* approved oil, there will not be any lubrication related problem for many hundred thousands miles.

Dunno, but this little peice of [censored] 2001 has impressed me with power, handling, and mpgs, and it a lot more comfortable than my 07 corrola was.

Like to report that Timing belt was changed, old fomoco belt was find, bearing were in ok shape, (gates bearing btw made in canada.)

Serpentine belt tensioner failed, (gates) and the idler bearing was rough (gates too.)

Replaced serpentine belt, tensioner, and idler with dayco made in US products, and used a timing belt kit for NAPA gates belt US made, and tensioner and idler canadian made. All good products.

Also performed a Oil change, used a non-ecore STP filter, and 4.5qts of Quaker State GB
