Original brakes. I need Calipers and Pads. What would you recommend? Car is driven 2k a year and never raced. What would you recommend? Where is the best place to buy pads and Calipers? Competitive price is Impotant.

Rock Auto Akebono Euro ceramic pads. I put on front of my BMW X1 and they have a very nice feel of modulation without grabbiness.

We used to use "Stainless Steel Brakes" I believe it is now SSBC. When I worked for a dealer we used to do at least one a month, as I'm sure you probably know they are 4 piston calipers and are prone to corrosion. Cry once, spend the money to do it right.

Way back then there was a place in Atlanta that would stainless sleeve/piston them while our parts guy waited if we needed them fast, but I no longer remember the name or where exactly it was, it would surprise me if they were still around.

Might consider Wilwood

Willcox is my favorite. My C3 education is bought and paid for.

You HAVE to pressure bleed them.

Question: Are you sure you need calipers? A Vette that old probably already has steel sleeved calipers.
If so, you can easily rebuild. Regardless, use o-ring pistons.

He asked about the back ones back in 2019...

I guessing it doesn't get driven much...

You are correct. In response to the great replies....Wilcox or RockAuto sound great. The only issue is the core and shipping are issues with value. Any thoughts?

The cores are 50 years old. And Cardone does a poor job "rebuilding" calipers, pinching pennies when they can, and even when they can't. Don't settle for poorly rebuilt calipers when all-new is available, which it is for your car.

You're better off with new Wilwood calipers.

Willcox is a Corvette specialist. He is a small guy with great respect in the Corvette aftermarket. He has been around for a long time.
You can be assured of his quality and willingness to stand by his products.
Willcox is by far my 1st choice for early Vette speciality parts.

By the way, Lonestar is the biggest Corvette caliper rebuilder. They do the actual rebuilding for most of the Corvette houses.

Here is the Willcox caliper page:

Again, the 1st thing you should do is see what you have. I doubt you will find a C3 with original lip seal brake calipers.
By now they have all been rebuillt with stainless steel sleeves. Rebuilding SS calipers is really easy; 2 bolts hold them together.

Rebuild the calipers or Raybestos rebuilds.

Toss in some Raybestos semi-metallic street performance pad.

Raybestos also has street performance rotors.

I am not worried about originality, just safety and reliability. Performance is nice though. I am guessing Cardone Sux.

Sorry, I thought i replied to this already.

In that case I personally would go with the Wilwood. If not then follow Jeffs advice.

Many of these cars got "stainless" calipers early in their life.
