Rear rotors and pads?

Hawk, EBC, Akebono canr go wrong there.
There are smaller cottage pad makers like porterfield.
We are getting into "i want a specific brake behavior" category vs "oem or good enough"

I know - I will pick soon... :)
I want to have it ordered before Monday - so, that it goes out (shipped whenever PA does their first shipment).
The EBC - I read they are semi-metallic? Anyway, the price on Amazon went up to $100 so they're out.

Are these good?: HELLA PAGID - 355035001 $50

They just appeared - so, I think it was out of stock but is available now. These or the Akebono ACT pads for $75?

I'll pick between these two today - and then order. The rotors I'm going with is the Power Stop JBR964EVC Geomet coated - I just can't pick a strange brand - I'm reluctant cuz I don't want a problem - or need to change the brakes early - A Premium, Brake-X and Tovasty - seem okay - and the 2nd one is made in Canada - but, I read mixed reviews - mostly good but some saying they had to change the brakes out early.

Both are Ceramic, is that what you want/need up north with salt ?

Yes, sir. :) I delayed so long because was looking to buy locally in case an order is screwed up - but, the prices are so high - and the 'box/chain' stores mostly sell 'store brand or Brembo - and some Power Stop - but mostly cross-drilled/slotted which I don't really need or want - I want them quiet and cheap (their kits are over $25 than what I can find online). I dunno if I can trust the 'Canadian made' ones.

Here, we have had some big snow falls (and salt is everywhere) and the brake dust is making my wheel/rim brownish red.... I'm mad at myself for taking a long time but I don't want to do this again for a while. I think the Akebono brakes might be overkill for the rears but they sound like they're the best deal (Honda OEM and everyone raves about them) even if about $20 more than most pads. The Power Stop rotors are a decent price - as long as PartsAvatar doesn't screw up the order.

Hey did you look into NRS brake pads and how much they cost compared to what you listed?
Also pagid? I think pagid makes a bunch of euro OEM dusty pads, maybe they make low dust ceramics?
I would look into akebono ASP line too its a bit more expensive but should last just as long and gets better performance according to Akebono.

Edit: also if you dont like brake dust go ceramic all around less dust. I think the red dust is just iron rust particles? Could be from the rotor or the semi metallic pads?

Never heard of NRS. I also didn't see them on any site so I probably can't get them.
I mentioned the Hella Pagid pads I found in a previous post. I read ppl say they are 'mid-grade' and they are ceramic - the ones I found. They're $25 cheaper than the Akebono. The ASP series are $95 so another $20 - however, they're out of stock at the site I was going to buy brake parts from. I read ppl say they are 'performance grade' and probably overkill for my old car?

I'm only looking at ceramic pads.

The Pagid pads seem to be worth trying. Pagid pads and Powerstop rotors should be a good combo :)

NRS brakes are made in Canada, in Ontario somewhere.

Although I think their stuff is semi metallic.
Any way I think that Akebono is OEM for a lot of japanese car makers and brakes is the last thing I would be saving on.
Correct - PA has the NRS pads for $67 plus tax. They are semi-metallic but supposedly quiet for that material?

What about the Hella Pagid Silver ceramic pads? Anyone know if they're any good? I thought they were made in Germany? I doubt it at the prices they are at PA - $50. I wonder how they compare to the Akebono. I couldn't a lot of info about them...or even reviews/thoughts regarding the Silver ceramic line.

For German cars I use OE or Zimmerman for rotors and ATE and sometimes depending on COO Textar and Pagid for pads, the Bosch I have seen that other people bought and wanted me to install look like most of the other lower priced Chinese parts. Compare them side by side to made in Germany Zimmermans or OE and it is night and day.
I found Pagid Silver ceramic pads but not sure about them - are they made in Germany or India (or China)? I think that makes a difference.... if the latter, they're probably just like any other brand? These ones are cheaper than the Akebono so it's making me wonder.

I decided to buy the Akebono pads and Powerstop Geomet-coated rotors. I hope I made a good decision...a bit more expensive than I would have liked but I couldn't convince myself to get something else - although, there were some intriguing choices like the Pagid ceramic pads and a local shop told me on the phone that they sell NRS pads - for a bit cheaper than the Akebono pads but not by much - only $10 - and they were semi-metallic - I want the brakes to be as quiet as possible.
I've been listening to scraping for a while now and I want to get the work done soon.
I just wanted to THANK EVERYONE who replied to me and advised/(recommended parts to) me. That was awesome!

My friend asked me for a ride out of town at the start of next month (end of the week) so I hope to get the car (brakes) fixed before then. :)

'Hope these brakes are good...should be. Crossing my fingers the order goes well.... that's the only thing I'm really concerned about, actually.
