0W-xx oils in SUV's?

Here's a question for the SUV guru's.....
What are your thoughts about using either Mobil 1 0W-40 syn or GC 0w30 in a Dodge Durango for 5K OCI's?

Both are great oils. Once you get that Durango engine cleaned up, that would be a choice IMO.

OW-40 Esso XD-3 goes into every SUV I do oil changes on...Jeeps 4.0L,Jimmy's 4.3L engines and they run great on the stuff!

Im running GC in my 98 ZR2. same driveline as if I had a blazer SUV. At normal (say, the typical temperatures you have in the Poconos, as Im up there many weekends), Ive found GC to be thicker at startup than 5w30 conventional and syn oils Ive had in therebefore. Really just a function of the T vs. viscosity curve, and perhaps a reason why euro cars spec a 0w- oil in their newer cars, so its a bit thicker at normal ambients than a 5w-xx oil. Just a guess though.

Anyway, I wouldnt think twice about using either, provided UOA shows that its a good match for your engine, climate, driving style, etc.

GC in my '97 Exploder. No problems here.

I burn about 1/2 qt every 5k. Changing the oil weekend with more GC.
