20hp Kohler in a Terramite backhoe.

I have an older Terramite T5C backhoe with a Kohler 20hp twin. I have been using it quite a bit lately and in the hot weather I was wondering if it might be a good idea to run synthetic in it? I run the engine a full throttle most of the time as its a bit underpowered. Anyone have any thoughts...

AC Delco stopped making the PF59?

I have been unable to find PF59 filters anywhere, the local parts store took the slot they used to be in away completely. Many people from my Avalanche board are saying the same thing. Anyone have any info on this situation? Apparently they are pushing the PF44 in its place, are their specs similar?

    Purolator One Oil Filter

Side by side with a PF59 AC filter the P1 was significantly lighter and the can was almost "tin can" feeling. The color of the paint wasnt what turned me off, it was the the disgraceful quality and finish, full off bubbles, dust and it was so thin the metal underneath was visible. Quality...

    Purolator One Oil Filter

I was looking at the P-1's at pep boys the other day and they seem absolutely cheap. Very light, thin walled cans and a horible spray can type blue metallic finish that looks like it was done in a backyard. I took one look and put it back on the shelf, first impression was horrible..

    Mobil clean 5000, any thoughts

The clean 5000 is supposed to have a higher (16%) detergent and cleaner additive. I was hoping it would help with the CSK in my Avalanche's 5.3.

    Mobil clean 5000, any thoughts

I did a search and it came up empty. Has anyone done analysis or have experience with Mobil clean 5000 oil? Im using it in my wifes 3800 Grand Prix and about to use it in my Avalanche. Was hoping to see some research on it.

    New B&S engine breake-in

It lookslike you have a manual of some sort. What are the proper numbers for the 2.3 and 2.7 inch filters? Can you provide a link to that info?

    New B&S engine breake-in

I have the same 18.5 B&S engine and just did the first oil change after the initial 5 hours. The oil was very very clean. I used a castrol syntec 10-30 synthetic (they were out of mobil 1). I plan on changing it again in another 5-10 hours and use Mobil 1 10-30. Thanks for the oil filter...

No decrease in oil pressure seen with Purolator Pure One

In an enigne or flow and pressure are unrelated. Pressure is determined soley on the clearances of the oil passages in the engine combined with the bypass valve setting. Flow is realtively low in an engine, its not like water flowing out of a hose.

    In defense of Fram

If that is the case then it's like saying filtering media can not be improved upon. Everyday we are bombarded with claims of better flow with enhanced filtering capability. By this test, a truly advanced and well performing filter would be deemed inefficient.

    In defense of Fram

Correct, like I said this is a particulate test. The test in question was not. Im curious as to what correlations were determined from this test.

    BOBISTHEOILGUY FILTER TESTS

I didnt see this mentioned (I admit I didnt read all 10 pages) but pressure drop across a filter is not a good way to determine flow or filtering ability. To measure flow, a flow meter or method of measuring the output is needed, to measure filtering ability, a particulate test is needed...
