I'm using Elf CRV 506.1 in my 2005.5
Use Amsoil European Car Formula 5W-40. It meets VW 505.01 and they guarantee it if VW gives you any grief.quote:

I've been searching around and found ELF 5w40, Motul 5w40 and Pentosynth TS 5w40 to all be in the same price range as the Castrol TXT. Out of all those choices, which would be best to pick? I know of the new ELF 0w30 but it's rather pricey at $16.50 per liter. Thanks for any help.
I did. Must have been a different bottle.quote:
it states right on the bottle 505.01. No not 505.00 but 505.01. Look for yourself.
Thread is a little old, we sold this car last Februaryquote:
