Your Experience with A SafeWay Deli?

The local Way of Safe is currently being retrofitted with a Deli. I grew up with Publix grocery stores. Very fine establishments all with an outstanding deli! I have never been to a SafeWay with a deli. What are your thoughts on the fried chicken? Meats? Cheeses?

Borderline at best. Nothing I crave. Have bought some cheese for a fast food lunch....prepared stuff is cookie cutter. Don't touch the "Chinese".

If they carry Boar's Head meats and cheeses it will be a good deli.

Publix is OK, but sometimes you have to wait 15-20 minutes in line for service. And their fried chicken is very bad.

Is the bread chewy?

What the heck? I wanted chewy bread with Boar's Head meat and cheese submarine sandwiches!

Well they might still sell some other local bakery's artisan breads as QFC does.

Sandwich is not bad, I'd say about as good as Togo or Subway, but ain't cheap.
