Careful with that Havoline HM - not so good in cold temps, at least not the 10w-30.

Have it in a sister's trailblazer right now - grabbed by mistake, meant to use the 5w-30. Got down to 8F late last week, truck tapped horribly, my sister wanted to cry.

I'm thinking they'll be dumping it this weekend.

At 8F(-13C), the Havoline HM 10W-30 is 2900 cSt, per the viscosity calculator. At this same temp, conventional Havoline 5W-30 will be about 1600 cSt.

Yes, I can understand the lifter noise.

Thank you for updating, I didn't even think about linking it back to this thread. YES, the HM Havoline 10w-30 is WAY too thick for real cold temps.

Sister is now running Havoline blend 5w-30, said it drives real nice, hadn't noticed till now that it was a little sluggish before, and starts up nice and quiet.

They'll go back to a 10w-30 in the summer, but I'm pretty sure they'll stick to the blended Havoline, they seem happy in the fact that it idles smoother then with the HM Havoline.

Vehicle is new, to them, so I'm sure they'll be playing oils for a while.
