Noticed in the Orielly sale paper they had Havoline on sale for $1.99 a quart. Is this a good deal, and is it good oil on par with PYB, VWB, GTX etc? Additive package and base stock. Both of our cars get 4-5k oil changes with either purolator classic or motorcraft filters.

1.99 a qt is a really good deal for those who don't mess around with rebates, defiantly the best nation wide (no rebate) dino deal I have seen in quite some time.

Havoline is as good as most other major brand dinos for a normal OCI of 5K, IMO.
I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
A few years ago Havoline was loaded with Moly and a thinner 5w30 but I think that has changed.

Here's the current formulation VOA (5w30)

The BITOG sickness is coming in, I may have to grab a case

I have a Havoline sticker on my toolbox (got it free with a case of oil 15 years ago) I ran the oil for 3,000 miles in a chevy 350. it didnt blow up.

havent used Havoline since then, but the sticker still looks good on my toolbox.

Yep, 5w30 currently in my wife's 10 Equinox, and 20w50 in my Honda ST1300. Picked up a few of the specials at AA earlier in the month when it was 5 and a filter for 14.99.

I use to put havoline decals all over my custom decorated stock car in the 1994 NASCAR game by Papyrus for PC. Of course then I had no idea what havoline was.

Uh, yeah, I'd use havoline.

I still remember when Havoline was owned by Texaco....."Cool under fire"....
And Bob Hope driving the front half of a Chevrolet Citation, with the rear half following somewhat closely behind.Great idea for a Citation, cut them into two pieces, then scrap both.
