Would you buy a Fram if it had metal endcaps?

You crack me up sometimes Kevguy

I buy and use orange cans occasionally now, I have no FSD, so I imagine I'd use them with metal endcaps too.

Greatly prefer Motorcrafts though if I can get one for my application.

LOL ... because there's a big blow up OCOD at the drag races, it must be the top tier filter used by all professional racers. This is the power of advertising ... nothing more.

"Devastated" if the OCOD was to use metal end caps.

[Kevguy] Don't fear the orange can. [/Kevguy]

Seriously,he said that! His exact words,"If it's good enough for J.F then it's good enough for me." Of course he is set in his ways.

After years of using PureOne's....I recently purchased the Fram 'Ultra'....with metal endcaps, synthetic media, excellent construction and great efficiency. Its the only Fram I will use and its good for up to 15K.

At $8.97 at WalMart....its one of the best buys out there in the the high tier filter market.

I will use it for two 7,500 OCI's....with M-1 0w20.

Tell your cousin to look at the Force cars next time he's at the races and see if there is an OCOD on there, I bet not.

Actually all funny car and top fuel cars use a Fram oil filter. Years ago they used an HP series spin on. Now they use a Fram canister filter specifically desinged for these engines.

I remember seeing those HP filters on there. I wonder why they did away with them? And,why do all T/F and F/C use FRAM only?

And because of pressure developed, true 'racing filters' by design are basically sieves. Wouldn't let the fact that Fram racing filters are used for drag racing influence my choice of oil filters for pc use.

My point is that they don't use the ocod.

Probably not at first, I'm running a cleaning OCI of 7.5K with PU or PP. After that I might.

Can you please explain how PP or PU cleans? Sure,I can Google it but coming from an actual person whom knows first hand is better. I might need/want to do this.

But,if someone has been doing the required OCIs,an engine should not need this cleaning or look like what was in that oil filter. Or,is this more like a PM thing?

Under normal operating conditions and no mechanical problems, an engine should not need cleaning. I just had some gaskets in my taurus replaced, was leaking some coolant into the oil so I'm flushing the rest of the contaminates and then cleaning it up just because with PU.
